https://www.theguardian.com/business/2023/apr/22/fired-by-ai-just-eat-uk-couriers-deactivated-for-minor-overpayments Just Eat or Grubhub or SkipTheDishes or whatever the group is called just shows horrendous behavior in treating its employees. Their system gives people money in certain scenarios and then the employees get fired for it… First we all know GPS data isn't the most stable at all times, second it's just kind of ridiculous to expect people to always be on point.. just ask for your money back if you don't agree instead of firing them… If this is the future of work we're they're going to track how you park, where you stand, how you breathe.. My goddd

Hypothetical Scenario
Here's a hypothetical scenario: A female manager has just broken up with her fiance and is taking her frustrations out on her team. Finally, one of team members snaps and calls her out. The two get into a massive argument and the employee quits on the spot. Would he still be eligible for unemployment benefits because the manager had technically created a hostile work environment?
I'm constantly depressed panicking and overflowing with anxiety in every job I've been at. I'm thinking maybe I should just be super frugal and switch to delivering pizzas or working in a slow restaurant. What I wouldn't do to be on disability
I’ve had three interviews in the past week, all of which never made it past the first five minutes. These employers never put what hours are required, what they require from the employee, nothing. If you would have told me overnight availability is required, I would have never paid $10 to Uber there for the interview. If you would have told me the position I’m interviewing for was already filled, the only position they met my availability, I would have cancelled the interview. If these employers would have simply listed the qualifications and expectations of this position, all our time wouldn’t have been wasted. If the position I applied for was only full time, making less than I do now, I would have never applied. There’s no reason to be enigmatic on your job postings, tell me exactly what expectations you have, qualifications that are required, any requirements for this…
I've seen a lot of posts in this sub and other similar ones bashing the new Florida law that seems to be driving off immigrant workers. I know that DeSantis is normally everything this sub goes against, but I strongly believe that this law is a step in the right direction and should be adopted nationwide. Businesses do not hire illegal immigrants because Americans don't want the position. Businesses hire illegal immigrants because Americans don't want the position at the garbage wages being offered. Any system that doesn't do it's best to weed out illegal employees is actively working to suppress the wages of everyone else. The average person might not want to pick apples in the sun at 5 bucks an hour, but I bet they'd consider it for 50 an hour. Any business or industry that cannot survive paying a living, actually competitive wage doesn't deserve to survive.…
Saving cards
I work in company selling shoes. Today I got about 20x 30% saving cards for purchases as on of my “benefits”. The cards are expiring in 1 month and I am definitely not gonna buy 20 shoes and I won't be getting any more cards until next year. So I guess I am gonna go to some store and give it to the shoppers. At least someone will have better day
I work as a technician for all sorts of technology. Recently I got bitched at about getting overtime when a vehicle and a couple of items worth over $14K collectively were urgent (as per our consignor). They required me to stay later on Friday to set the items up on our store website and eBay since we are closed on the weekends. Waiting patiently for the owners to come in and give their two sense on the matter about me getting collectively an hours worth of overtime last pay period. I only make $14 after all, to think I don't get paid more boggles my mind after doing this for a couple years. I want to know other people's take on this and if anyone else has any messed up experiences with companies bitching about people who do their job, meanwhile they ignored others who didn't in the past.
