I don’t ever want more hours
Worked Unarmed security (read- unglorified secretary) and they kept shoving 16 hour days with no notice down my throat. I keep seeing jobs advertising so much overtime, and I can't help but see those notices as companies just outing themselves for having horrible schedule and employee management, and they also usually have shit pay. I want a life, not more time spent at this godforsaken labor mill. I don't care how much money it would get me, I never want to stay a second longer than I have to.
It's been a tough year for our company, and by “tough year,” I mean “last year was a stellar year, and we made less money this year.” There have been several rounds of layoffs. Our market is cyclical, meaning next year they'll have to hire a bunch of inexperienced people to take over for people who were here 10+ years. We had our quarterly town hall, and someone asked about raises. The answer was, “Do you want a 3% raise, or do you want us to not lay off 3% of you?” And they still won't say layoffs are over, so we may get layoffs anyway. I'm beyond done.
my dear employee, let me tell you a fascinating story. Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, there was a magical creature called a 'raise.' Legends say it was given to those who toiled tirelessly, showed unwavering loyalty, and possessed exceptional skills. Alas, in our reality, such tales remain mere fantasies. But fear not, for I offer you something far greater than a raise – the honor of working for me! Now, back to your duties, my brave soul
I made a post about a politician running for National office in the US with strong labor and union policies, but it was removed due to a “no politician” rule. How are we supposed to organize and make change without using the collective power of a sub like this to organize around politicians that support our cause? The concept of what we’re doing here, of fighting back with collective power is an inherently political one, they cannot be separated without us losing power. These CEOs sure as hell don’t have a “no politicians” rule so why should we?
Important Oncall issues!!
I work in Florida, live in the west for labor law context. I am a service lead, I hire contractors to go fix things. (Keeping vague in case I get fired) My pay is 18.03 but was verbally told 19.20 “salary” but still signed like an idiot. My issue is with On call. I’ve worked here long enough so now have to be in the schedule or get fired for missing work. So now this is on call. You get $25 for that day, I source two jobs and don’t get another $25 until I source another job. 3 jobs to make $50. Sounds decent at first until you realize you also have to catch up on other peoples work for them after hours. Which can take over two hours depending on the day. And sometimes you can’t even source a job, which means I could spend 3 hours on…
hopefully someone knows the answer to this and can help out.. i figured i would ask here rather than a microsoft or tech support reddit because i hope you understand where i’m coming from. so the tldr is i’m hoping to leave my job soon (i don’t know what i’ll do next but it’s toxic as heck and a bunch of people already left and even more are leaving as well and i don’t want to be the last one). we have one drive at work and i’m currently moving all of my stuff to a personal usb stick/thumb drive/whatever you want to call it and deleting everything else. my question is though, if i delete everything from the recycle bin both off the desktop and off of one drive is there any way my employer can recover my files? thanks and i hope you understand where i’m coming from.…
A few times I came close, created a profile, uploaded the picture then looked at it and hated it, the picture, the name, my description, I wouldn't hire myself, and it's depressing. To be fair, I don't want the job either, I just want to feel wanted.
