Owner is a Doucheb*g

I work at a marijuana dispensary and the owner/management gives its employees about $2 of in store credit for every hour that we work. This credit is added to my income for tax purposes but Im only allowed to use it at the store (obviously). My issue is that the owner uses this as a justification to render his employees exempt from any in-store discounts that get offered to customers. Which means not only does my income get taxed as if I was making more than ai am, but if I want to buy something at the same store I work at, I end up paying more than the average customer. It really bothers me but I feel like every time I try to bring up that its unfair that I pay more than a regular customer, they just throw my credit in my face saying that should be enough.

I finally did it, wish me luck.

I got my bachelor's degree in Horticulture in 2016. In school, I figured that one day food would become so expensive due to climate change, that I would be able to grow in a greenhouse on my lawn at a price competitive with Big Ag. I went to work at shitty job after shitty job. Yelled at daily, minimum wage, long shifts and no benefits. Food so expensive and pay so low that I couldn't afford fresh veggies every day, I only made about 5 tomatoes an hour at the current rate. But, I achieved my goal of gaining skills and knowledge to go into business for myself, and that's what I did. I am the only employee. I grow it, sell it, and own it. I automate everything I can and keep the prices as low as possible. I do 50% off for EBT users at the farmer's markets.…

So sick of getting paid bad but scared of for-profit work

I work at a nonprofit doing government affairs support work (non-lobbying) and I generally actually enjoy my job. Only thing is that I make like, $55k in DC. Somehow I manage to squeeze by living comfortably and have some savings but it feels like everything could fall apart so easily. Sometimes I fantasize about working in a higher paying job outside of the nonprofit sector but it's so hard to believe that this is possible – and I have only ever done nonprofit work (by nonprofit I mean 501c3/501c4 groups – not really 'charities' or community work, if that makes sense). Somehow I don't have credit card debt and I've been able to have some vacations and live alone. I live comfortably but god I wish I could just be a little more financially secure. Nonprofit work is its own beast and is far far far from morally pure in…

A story that I’ve held on to for a long time now

Two things before the story This is just my pov/experience I was unsure where I could share this story so I really hope it's ok here Just kidding 3 things. I got my nails done recently for the first time in over a year and I'm finding it's a little hard to type so sorry for typos. Ok on to the story. So I (32F) used to work in Los Angeles for my dream company and had thoughts of grandeur for a future position I was absolutely in love with. Spoiler: it wasn't meant to be. After a year I was let go (which was my fault due to too many tardies and I underestimated traffic) and I was heartbroken. I thought I'd work here until either I retired or opened my own business someday and worked til death. I quickly had to find something else so I could continue…

Am I overthinking or did their response seem condescending??

I got this job the first week of January. We've been delayed 4 times. I added my initial email for context.
