This morning, I called our company’s IT support line for assistance with something job-related. A few hours later, the tech who I spoke to sent requests to follow/friend me on multiple personal social media accounts! They used the information I provided when I needed assistance to find my personal information and accounts. They would not have had that info if I didn’t call. I had never spoken to that person before in my life so it was super weird. I’m nervous about what other personal information they have now. That person is from a different country where social media requests are much more relaxed and they are within the same company I work for, but it was still a violation of my privacy and super unprofessional. I brought it up to one of my direct supervisors, who passed it along to other leadership who can address it. They have all…

For context, prior to this job, I had spent my last 4 years working in logistics, transportation and supply chain, a field I re-discovered how much I love. I took a chance on switching industries (live entertainment) and to re-locate to be closer to my partner's family and mine. Within the first 2 months I could tell this wasn't where I wanted to take my career and that the growth opportunities were extremely limited. My manager also wasn't the best at communicating or managing. Eventually, I was put on a PIP and then terminated (despite following up in one-on-ones to ask and ensure if I was on track). On a personal level, I got along super well with HR, my co-workers (many have texted me saying they didn't see it coming and would be happy to offer a reference) and I had a decent relationship with my boss – she…

The “big stay” CNBC is a joke
CNBC doing its best to convince Gen z and millenials to stay put and take take the pay they are currently getting. Pathetic. https://www.cnbc.com/2023/05/19/the-great-resignation-is-overand-gen-z-millennials-could-benefit-the-most.html
The Compassionate Man A compassionate man once caught a turtle. He wanted to make it into soup, but unwilling to be accused of taking life, he boiled a panful of water and, placing a rod over the pan, said to the turtle, “If you can get across the pan, I will set you free.” The turtle was in no doubt as to the intentions of the man. But he did not want to die. So, summoning up all his will, he accomplished the impossible. “Well done!” said the compassionate man. “But please … try it again!” – Cheng Shi (c. 1150 AD)
Wanna hold your newborn? Pay up
Im in this situation because hr never sent me offer letter and they have start Date Monday. Verbally we have agreed on $25 and I don't recall signing even for my i9 forms how much I would be making. So here I go monday
that I knew the pay scale the last time they hired for the same position, and that my offer was $12,000 less than the low end of the pay scale. She then said about nine different silly excuses including “most people aren’t being paid market value here, and I didn’t get what I wanted either..” as if that was supposed to make me feel better. Basically I would have double the responsibility including managing employees…all for a $6,000 raise. Do I just outright refuse leaving them more scrambled and start job hunting, or accept and be waayy busier but have a better title to have on my resume? ETA – I’ll be looking elsewhere regardless, more wondering if I should pass to let them know how insulting it is and to just have an easier workload, or take it and have less energy to give to the applying process..but have…
