Currently working as a school aide in a very bad school with a toxic environment. Admins don’t support teachers and teachers do not care. Currently pursuing a bachelors in psychology. Should I quit and look for something related closer to my field? On top of that I am being paid below minimum wage. Really trying to figure what to do here as well as what to do to keep some money in my pockets as a student.

Middle-aged guy in a flyover state who hears this crap far too often. As though young people or certain groups are the problem. If you want to combat this nonsense and I want to share some publicly available info. It isn't that people don't want to work. It is that older people are leaving the workforce or maybe don't want to work. There are more people employed, total number, than prior to the pandemic. (https://tradingeconomics.com/united-states/employed-persons) The unemployment rate is lower than prior to the pandemic. (u-3 report, the normal unemployment) The number of people who want jobs and have them is greater than before the pandemic. (u-6 report – U-6 includes everyone not accounted for in the U-3 rate—discouraged, underemployed, and unemployed workers in the country. ) The Participation Rate (total number of people who could work and do work) from 20-54 is GREATER than pre-pandemic.(https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/LNS11300060) The participation rate of…
Yesterday my boss at my second job included this in a list of issues he had and I just can’t get over it. Instead of saying shit like this, why don’t you just come out and admit that you’re looking for something to blame us for and complain about? A person like this is too much of a micromanager to be able to delegate simple tasks to staff, and will probably never be satisfied with the way things are done unless he does them himself. There is no pleasing this person and so there is not much point in trying.
AI is coming for your future earnings. White-collar jobs aren’t safe. Diversify if u can. Good luck everybody!
So, the example that immediately comes to mind was this one job where they had rigged the time card we used to not allow you to clock in until 5 minutes after the page is opened. When you login, it rejects your credentials, you refresh, retype, refresh, repeatedly angrily mashing the enter key, and keep having to redo the captcha, and every time it takes five minutes. This amounts to 25 minutes every week, which then gets rounded up to an hour every two week pay interval. They think they are saving money, but they’re paying their employees less, and actually wasting their time for an hour every pay period. You didn’t get an extra hour out of your employee, you got less work. Then, when there was something that needed my attention, everyone else has to wait that same stupid five minutes it takes for me to clock in.…
Well… there goes the paid vacation
Walked past my local dunkin and saw this. Figured it’d be good for this sub!
I was only scheduled 2 and a half hours.
I work at a large fast food chain known for their religion and I tend to be put on dishes a lot. My boss cut my hours and insists on 2 and a half hour days evidently, well as im working those days my team leads criticize me in the public work group chat for not finishing my job, and my question to them is how am I supposed to finish my job in the 2 and a half hours you've given me? I clock in 3 minutes early as we are allowed to, and I took no breaks while working, in order to get what I even got done finished. They were nitpicking that I did not put them fully away, but as I was leaving many were still very wet. I'm quitting anyway for a new job I found recently, but I don't know my start date so…
