Hey everyone, 23 F here. Starting to have a big wake up call at how much I'm working my life away. I'm neurodivergent and suspected on the spectrum with depression. I'm exhausted, mentally, physically and I'm just very angry at the world. I just finished 7 days straight with one day off, now I'm back at work. I'm getting so tired of working, and for what??? More exhaustion, depression and disappointment? For reference I work in retail and I'm hoping to get back to school to start a career but I'm so angry at this capitalism bs. All we do is work and work and work for shitty pays. I live in Ontario Canada and the economy disgusts me. I make $17/hr right now and I feel so underappreciated, exploited and overworked. I recently fell at work and ended up needing surgery for a broken wrist. I had a plate and 4 screws put in. I've worked for the owner for 19 years. It's a smal llcl (3 employees). So far I've used my insurance to cover expenses.  He has said that he wants to avoid a workman's comp claim and to let him know if bills arise, he will pay them. He is currently paying me while I'm off recovering however he expects me back at work asap. He wanted me to come in the day after surgery.   I have a few questions, I know my Dr has suggested atleast 4 weeks off. Should I go back to work sooner then that? And should I file a workman's comp claim anyway? Aren't I entitled to pain and suffering?  Thanks in advance for helping me think this out. 

I make $21 an hour (43,680 per year), but my take home pay is only around $2600 a month, which is just over $31k a year. That means I’m paying over 25% of my yearly pay in taxes. Who the fuck allowed this? I already make barely enough to get by and it feels like they take as much as possible and then laugh in my face. I feel like people who make less than a certain cutoff shouldn’t be taxed at all.

I spent 5 years of my life doing some real mentally-exhausting, emotionally-draining, back-breaking labor for 300-500 USD a month as a Marine Engineer Cadet on board a ship. Got good enough on the job that my superiors have already recommended me for promotion to 4th Engineer multiple times on different ships and contracts. Some 3000 USD a month would have made it all pretty much worthwhile, while having a prospect of future promotions to 3rd, 2nd, heck even all the way to Chief Engineer at a salary cap of around 15k USD in about 10 or more years of working in the industry ​ Unfortunately, our office has denied me of this promotion multiple times, sometimes on grounds of that they have already lined up a 4th Engineer reliever on board so I'm unable to act as the reliever by promotion, or that I don't have the required certificates and…

I just started working in one and let's just say I'm really adjusting. They want you to talk and be happy all the time. Some lady bought in a lava lamp for her desk and they were offended that I didn't jump for joy. For crying out loud its early in the morning calm down.

I’ll DM you name of place and person. I still am salty about this it happened end of last year and have been waiting to publicly shame old manager by leaving reviews revealing she is racist. This woman excluded me from group photos and events and tried to get me fired cause she was jealous I got a scholarship to get education at job for being a minority. HR did nothing, I was transferred, and they eventually called cops on me after they told me to not come to work to get me to quit which I did. Lawyers won’t touch it cause I quit. Only thing I can do now is leave a few reviews. Please help me Reddit.
