Asking questions like what are your strengths and what are your weaknesses, how you solve conflict within the office etc aren’t actually reflections of how you handle things- just how good you perform in interviews. Not to mention it’s just a completely nerve inducing process where you answer strange questions that you would never be asked in an actual conversation. You also have to speak in a completely different way than you normally talk to show professionalism, even if that in itself is not required in the actual job. I feel like people who know the ins and outs of interviews and are generally just better at conversating are so much more likely to get the job than someone who doesn’t. sigh

As of April the national minimum wage in England went up, as is common pretty much everywhere night shift workers on average get £1 extra per hour due to “unsociable hours” this mostly standardised and the primary reason people work nights, my former employer however does not agree and just because the minimum wage is now level with night rate does not mean night pay will increase, despite every night shift worker (5 in total) explaining that the extra £1 is the only reason any of us work nights and that without it we would all relocate to day shifts elsewhere, our warnings were ignored so now 3 of us have left with the remaining two left attempting to negotiate, Play stupid games win stupid prizes.

Decades ago, I had a girlfriend who worked for only one day as an office temp at a hell hole of a company. Her boss “Linda” told her to shred some documents. But Linda was a bit rude. So my girlfriend says okay Linda, I'll get ALL the documents shredded for you. She shredded the documents and then she started shredding all of the other documents in their big file storage room.
