Where I work, we have a Continuous Improvement Team, they're job, is to figure out how to cut a job, by moving work around.
How can I be a good boss?
I have currently gotten a supervisor position and I want to be a good boss and have my subordinates happy to work. To preface it is a state government job, not a business so its not like I need to keep things running at 100% to insure profit margines, and I don't have a labor profit margin to worry about. The guy before me use to create essentially an itinerary of what people would be doing for certain hours of the day. I dont agree with this because i dont think it is good for moral. However, if someone wanted that i would be happy to waste my time in makijg one for them. Either way, I still want to be a good boss and create a work environment that my people are excited about. I am in a unique position where the upper management has retired and now it…

CVS In Rhode Island Held Accountable!!!
Attention all RI CVS Employees Read This!!! So I've got big news everyone. Some backstory here, when I was employed with CVS last October I filed a complaint with the RI Department of Labor because CVS wasn't paying time and a half on Sundays, a clear violation of RI Title 25-3. Well, I've been on the phone with HR for the better part of a month, and they finally are going to give me my wages that I'm owed. This is huge news because it sets a precedent that they acknowledge the law applies to me, meaning it also applies to you guys as well. I recommend that you all call HR, and demand what you're owed. For those more skeptical or worried about retaliation don't worry. The Department of Labor is on the case, and you will get your wages back, make no mistake. About a year ago I…
Manager told me to work on sick leave
I had a doctor's appointment on monday and I told her 2 days prior that I want the day off. But she refused and told me to clock in “before AND after the appointment” anyway because we're short staffed. I've been overworking 6 days a week and sometimes solo shifts (i work as a barista). It's mentally and physically destroying me. And they don't even care if you're sick they still want you to show up. I'm sick of this place.
I truly don't understand corporations. I get it making money, but what end. It's an empty spiritual decay.
I can’t believe this isn’t satire.

I work for a huge global company within the internal Service Desk where we only support internal workers (250k+ end users). Starting out, pay is crazy and max is 102k unless you apply for another position. Benefits are insane along with no call center vibes but we do of course have OKR’s. No micro managing as I hate that. No degree or certification required and we essentially have no exact rules to weed people out so as the hiring manager I get to choose who I think is the right fit based on what’s going on in the company. I could hire someone straight out of high school and they’d be making almost 100k right away. We do bring on people through a vendor and if they show that they’d benefit the company we keep them on as contractors with hopes to offer them a job once we have openings.…
Solution for the Working Class
Dear comrades I want to share an idea and some experience for how to easen the burdons on the working class. I am a student about to graduate in a month or so. Having saved up a small sum of about $100,000, I've put these funds into crowdlending sites such as Mintos thereby generating a work-free income of some $1,000/mo. The money is earned by lending to lending-companies providing high-interest loans to under-banked people in Europe, Africa, Central and South East Asia and Latin America. E.g. helping Kenyan people buy motorcycles and such. Ofcause I can't live off of this yet, but I hope to save up enough during the course of a few years of working. I think this might be a good solution for the troubles of the working class and also a solution benefitting people in the third world who need financing e.g. for cars and motorcycles…
