I'm so sick of people only struggling for living wages but don't give a damn about how much humiliation and harassment you get at work. I think we should also address the problems of the service industry, which is the main employer all over the world. People don't deserve to get yelled at, feel threatened, feel fear and mental stress at work. Quite the opposite, if you want me to give someone a good service, you have to give me the optimal conditions that make it easier for me to help, don't add obstacles to an already hard work.

Left a life changing salaried position within 3 weeks because of constant gaslighting like this
I work in fast food, this is my second job and I've never been laid off so I'm not sure what to do. Little backstory – I try to be that 110% employee, I have worked there 8 months, only called out 3 times (twice due to covid), never late and I never request days off, I dont involve myself in drama and I do my work and go home. A couple months ago I asked my GM if I could get less hours (i was working 35h/week at the time) due to starting physical therapy, and she said that was okay so I got bumped down to around 15/hr a week which was okay. Starting a few weeks ago though, she stopped putting me on the schedule. I have tried calling the store and messaging my GM, when it comes to calling out, being late, or anything else etc.…
After seeing a lot of negative stories about shitty workplaces/managers/companies, etc, I figured I’d share the story of when my grandma passed away from cancer, and how her company handled it. In the beginning of April 2020 right at the start of Covid, we found out that my grandmas cancer had returned, and it was diagnosed as stage 4 inoperable, and she was only given 1-3 weeks to live. She ended up passing away on May 5th 2020 after a very short battle. Upon finding out the news from my uncle, her supervisor gave his condolences and immediately notified the department manager who notified his superiors, and eventually word got to the EVP(acting CEO at the time due to the actual CEO being out on personal leave) The EVP of the company went out of his way to have her 25 year anniversary plaque made, and hand delivered it to…
In January I received a proposal for writing a book for a school in which I teach a masters degree for a big university. Money wasn’t that good but the deadline was July, so I accepted it because I honestly could do it in small bits over that time with not a lot of effort. So I say ok and remain waiting for the materials they have to provide. So they show up again on Friday (12th of May), they send me the materials and they tell me they want it for June 5th and I have to send the first half of it for May 26th. So instead of 6 months I’ve got 3 weeks to write it, for the same money. AND they used my position as a teacher as a threatening measure, like “either you do it or you may not be the right teacher for us…
lazy co-workers and biased managers
I am feeling heavily overworked because of lazy staffs in my work..also the lazy managers tend to utilize my commitment and give me more and more loads of works..the situation is becoming so frustrating that I feel burnt outt..
Friday night I went to work as an on site manager for a temp company it’s on an app but I have only started April 6th and it’s my first leadership position. I was super nervous I wear a full suit and haven’t taken it off since I’ve started. I have two other on site managers who have been doing other jobs and have been working for this company and companies like these for years. They are doctors or very close to being them in different practices and I feel dumb because I’m a two time drop out still finishing my political science degree. Anyways. They became a clique on Friday making me do all the work while they make jokes and sit around our entire shift. I feel like I’m being an idiot just trying to do my job right. Coworker 1 kept bringing up right wing politics and…
I see so many posts talking about quitting. We need to stop doing this. If they are making you go back to work (WFH return), then stay home, and just wait for them to do their job. Managers hate confrontation (most of them), so you will be able to get that extra pay check until they grow some balls to actually fire you, which may be weeks or even months…. Again, there are a lot of spineless managers in the workforce. They are fine to tell you what to do, but for them to actually have to “do something” is difficult for them. Especially when it comes to confrontation or firing a person. Theyre used to someone else doing the actual work… For example, I told my company i was no longer filling in for the vacant analyst position (after 8 months of doing it for free)… My boss basically…
