i used to work at a locally owned boba shop at a mall. when i had first started, the business had been open for less than a year and i started primarily working with the owner. the first thing that struck me as odd is they would have a “training period” where you weren’t technically hired, but would be paid minimum wage, untaxed and not through the pay period with deductions. i remember when the owner would be working, he would turn off the security cameras, purposely take the register, and would turn on “test transactions” for cash payments. the “test transactions” mode was set up for training and would not actually count towards adding money to the till. if the payment was with card, he would turn off the “test transaction” mode. like i said, he would purposely turn the cameras off (which faced the register) when present and…

It’s At Least 4 Jobs Now.
This is more so no anti work but more of a rant. I've been looking for a new job just to have a little bit of difference and maybe earn a little more money as I'm sure alot of people can relate it's likely the only way I'll keep up with inflation is through job hopping considering my last increase. So I see this job and it's a carbon copy of my job but within a different industry and across two different apartments. Great! I know the basics and and more than qualified to bring transferable skills so I apply. A week later I recieve a rejection email which is ok. I'm confused as it'd be like hiring a window cleaner to replace a window cleaner but you win some you lose some I'll carry on. What really annoys me is that not 3 days after my rejection email I…
For the past 5+ years, I had a business arrangement that could almost be described as self employed, but with a business partner. However, me and the partner had some… disagreements about financials and decided to go our own ways, leaving me to find a new job last summer. After applying around for awhile, I finally nailed what seemed like a dream job to me: Remote, a bit of a higher title than I was working with, an opportunity to learn software and design/codes I was unfamiliar with having worked in a relatively “closed” environment for the past years. It had a pay raise, benefits, all the stuff I was missing from being self employed along with coworkers to bounce projects off of, learn and teach with, etc. Anyway, the job was great. At first. How many times have we all heard that story I suppose? I work the first…
My job refuses to let us take a day off unless someone agrees to cover our shift. They have to meet with my clients, and ny calls, and respond to emails plus their workload. Once they agree to cover the shift they have to sign a contract. I guess I'll be using sick days instead of pto (both are paid) because that's ridiculous

First Week…
So laid off about 6 months ago. Finally found a new job. Not exactly what I was looking for. Changing industries but kinda get to do my thing. And largely have to create a marketing/networking position. So come in and they know I’ll need to learn about their industry. Hear how sales people pitch the company/product all that good stuff. I think I’ve had a total of 2 hours of what one may call “training” and one ride along that lasted about two hours. I presently sit in an office on Friday that has maybe two other total people in it. I think I’m giving it till 11 and just sending them some notes I’ve taken on ideas and going home.
