I’ve been hitting my 5th hour, everyday, for over a year

It's been great, it only comes out to ~ an extra 4k or so in the last year because of a promotion and 2 raises, but it still feels nice to work 40 hours a week but get paid for 45.

What if instead of protesting….

People just didn't show up for work for a week or so. It's non violent, they can't physically come and force you to work. No rioters vs. cops. I think it would throw the masters for a loop. Obviously there's a cost to not working but at this point, who cares? Does this all just continue in perpetuity?

Would i still be eligible for unemployment if didnt show up to my new job tomorrow?

Earlier today, my previous employer who terminated my employment on Friday informed me that I would be eligible for Unemployment Insurance (UI) after my severance package expires, and that my application would not be contested. This new information has made me reconsider showing up to my new job tomorrow, although I feel guilty about this decision since I've already invested a lot of time into the onboarding process with the staffing agency. The new job is a contract-to-hire position obtained through the staffing agency. If I inform the agency that I cannot make it to my first day of work tomorrow due to unforeseen circumstances, would this decision negatively affect my eligibility for unemployment benefits? I'm considering this option because at the time of my termination, I was unsure if UI benefits would be guaranteed or not. Now that HR has confirmed this, I see this as an opportunity to…

I finally stood up to my boss.

I got a job in a little family owned neighborhood market. It was supposed to be a part time job but I have been working 6 to 7 days a week for years. But in the last year I have been dealing with an absolute nightmare scenario in my personal life. I lost a court case. I lost my house. I was homeless. Now I am finally getting to a point where I will be able to breathe again. But I have to take care of something pretty big before I'll be able to. My boss was not willing to give me more than one day off. Well a couple days ago I got to the breaking point. I realize that for the first time I didn't have to figure out how to come up with $500 a week for this hotel room we've been staying in. I didn't have…

Do I need to provide my recent medical records in order to ‘verify my claim’ that I am disabled despite giving them a doctor’s note?

When I showed them my doctor’s note for a sitting stool as reasonable accommodation for my disability, the store leader declined. His reasoning was this: Employees would throw it at the customers (completely false and unfounded and a really weird way for an excuse) That it’s a safety hazard because people will trip over it. This didn’t make sense to me so I had to contact our area leader, and he said he’d talk to HR about it. Few days later he brings a foldable chair but then asked if I can give him my recent medical records in order to confirm that I indeed have a disability. Is that even legal? He already provided me a chair, and I even gave them a doctor’s note so why do they need my medical records that badly? Ironically enough, after this incident my next week schedule I only received 24 hours…

My Boss Is Abusive

When I first joined my current company, I was promised a higher salary than my previous job, which paid quite well. However, after leaving my old job and signing the paperwork at the new company, I discovered that I had been misled. The position only offered minimum wage plus a meager commission. Feeling trapped, as my previous employer was not interested in rehiring me, I had no choice but to continue working in this sales role. The leads provided were of poor quality, forcing me to invest my own money to generate better leads. Despite my success in generating thousands of leads each month and requesting a raise, I only received a small, insignificant increase in pay. This has left me demotivated and disheartened due to the low compensation. To make matters worse, my boss displays highly unprofessional and unacceptable behavior. He is racist, homophobic, emotionally abusive, and has a…

Manager sent an email saying people complained about me using my phone at work. I don’t use it any more than my coworkers. How do I respond without actually admitting to it or sounding too defensive?

Plausible deniability innit. There’s a paper trail so I want to be careful I’m thinking something like: “I am so happy to know that we can come to you with complaints of personal phone use and inappropriate use of work computers. I have seen several of my coworkers doing online shopping, looking for flights and browsing facebook on at their workstations. I can inform you of any such incidents so you can kindly extend the same courtesy to them as you have me.” I would name names like they did to me, but none of them ever talk to me so I never learned their names. I might also want to build a case for later on regarding how I’m borderline ostracised by them
