We have this new system for checking out samples (like a library book but with carpet and tile). This new system sends the customer a reminder text to bring back the sample with my personal information to contact with any questions. I’m very against this. Is it even legal?
PSA for current job seekers!
Any “bonuses” that you see advertising for a position are not bonuses at all but are just advertising ploys by our corporate jailers. Relocation “bonuses” are simply reimbursement programs that shockingly none of your actual expenses of moving qualify for! Sign-on “bonuses” are simply bets they place on you quitting before the term in the fine print is up, at which point they force you to re-pay the “bonus”. I'm certain there are many other traps out there – but these are the two I just idiotically fell for. Yes this is just a rant disguised as helpful information. Yes, I'm pissed another healthcare organization fucked me out of my money. Don't be a dunce like me, consider yourself warned.
I’m just saying is all
My grandparents died in the fall like 10 days apart. I loved them but they were in their 90s. I'm in my early 30s. I was sad but much more accepting of their passing. I only took half the bereavement days and my work sent me flowers to my house. So nice. I know they didn't have to do that and I am not entitled to flowers. Of course I know that. But in comparison to the fact that shortly after, my father's cancer returned. He died within four months. It was a nightmare, it qas clear as day it was affecting me. And I have not received a TEXT from most people let alone flowers. So of course it leaves me wondering what was happening at my grandparents death vs my father's death. I'll tell you. I'm on medical leave. I'm not providing labour. That's the difference. Don't fall…
Basically, I (29f) quit a toxic research lab 2 years ago. Mainly due to the head honcho of the lab being a racist, elitist, histrionic personality disorder having, maniac that has no respect for anyone but herself. Let's call her Marjorie because why not. Worked for Marjorie as an undergrad intern, was snubbed for a full time position for a year after graduation, until they needed a replacement for the person they hired (a fellow recent college grad at that time). I was finally hired and was of course paid in peanuts, had to work another job to make ends meet. But it was a career job, so I wanted to “pay my dues.” I was so wrong. Marjorie took advantage and expected me to work even on my official days off, constantly derailed any plans or work we've discussed for our research projects and actively worked to exclude me…
Pretty much the title. I accepted a job offer over a month ago and was supposed to start in less than a week. I got a call from the talent acquisition department, who I never spoke with before (my original call was with HR). I call HR to confirm and they had zero clue what I was talking about and was told they’d call me back. Instead of a call back I get a text saying that HR does verify that the position is closed and I will not be starting. I feel so defeated. This was a dream job at a dream company with glowing employee reviews. Now I have to scramble to find a new job.
Fred Meyer is run by bastards.
Fuck Kroger and fuck FM
Like the title says I was fired from my job recently on a whim. This comes not one week after my supervisor caught me passing out union cards. That's it. No warning, no threat beforehand simply fired. My state has no protections against this so I am left scrambling desperately trying to get another job, I have lived paycheck to paycheck for months and I was finally about to be able to save a little bit each month and now this. I have nothing lined up, no money, bils due and rent due in June. Has anyone else had this happen to them? How did you make it work in the meantime? I'm worried because if I start a job even as early as next week I won't have the funds until long after bills are due, advice anyone?
