Hello, was wanting to get some feedback from this community on what I should do. I work from home mostly and need to remote into a computer at the office to utilize programs that are only available on there. Unfortunately my manager has a bad habit of going into the office and just sitting there and watching my screen all day long to see what I am doing. He doesnt have much to do so he literally will sit there all day sometimes just watching my screen. If there is no activity for a bit, he pings me asking me what I'm working on. It really stresses me out working in this sort of environment where he is constantly looking over my shoulder (albeit virtually). Is there anything I can do or say in this situation? I have started looking for other jobs, but we all know how long that…

I am a pca. A contracted worker for a personal aide company. The people I work for now are wildly kinder and more understanding than my old job. There's three main contrasts. For one meeting with the person to sign paperwork to start the job. Old company the boss came in and yelled at me for smelling bad. (Pls see old post here for that full story). This company the guy came out and didn't have a problem with me. He explained things completely including how payments work. This brings me to the second contrast. He explained how things work regarding how much they're paid and how much I'll be paid. His doing this made me feel valued as an employee. My old boss told me that no min wage worker gets anything more than she's willing to pay and I can take I or leave it. If I or…
Hi- I know this isn’t a legal sub, but my mediation appointment is next week and I CANNOT find a lawyer in time- not a lawyer that refuses to help- a employment lawyer, period. The only one I found wanted $1200 upfront and that is far outside of my realm of possibility. Is there anyone who’s already done the mediation out there I could look to for guidance before going into this thing blind?? So sorry if not allowed, I’m desperate over here 🙁 Edit: guys I PROMISE it’s not a lawyer just not taking my case, it’s that there are no employment lawyers available in my area. My case is guaranteed/already partially paid.
Should I just quit and walk out??
I'm financially stable enough to miss the next 3 weeks I have left of work. I was off sick with a terrible URI for two weeks, I put in my notice (a month instead of 2 weeks) just before that and I'm finally well enough to go in tomorrow. I have another job lined up, ready for training (paid) and I'm tempted to go in tomorrow grab all my stuff and let them know I'm done after this shift. I have a lot going on during this month such as home reno's, family stuff, personal stuff and I'm really debating whether or not to just throw in the towel and start training for the job that's actually going to put me on a career path.
One of my relatives has been with a certain company for 10+ years and is receiving a 15% paycut due to a role change. They are in a unique position because they are the only one with this current role and NO ONE has been hired or trained to do what they do, and the training for a new fill would take MONTHS to come close to their output. Their new role has several already proficient in it but I 100% know this company will still ask for my relative's help very often for the duties of the old role. I told them to do only what the new role requires and not ANYTHING extra. Hope this company has fun not being able to get shit done. I'm even more pissed than if this would have happened to me because this person is the sweetest and most hard working person…
https://ratethelandlord.org/reviews r/RatetheLandlord The goal is to become a big platform like Glassdoor but for rating landlords,, This can be huge and make renting safer and more transparent for everyone who doesn't have a house. And break up the monopoly that we are seeing being created in investment portfolios that prioritize taking up homes for profit We will strongly advocate for rental property to be treated as a regulated industry, with transparency and consumer safety measures put in place. It's time to break up the rental market and remove any misconceptions about private property, it's only private property IF YOU LIVE IN IT, not if you offer it to the public for profit, it should be heavily regulated/criticized, these are people's livelihoods. Tenants shouldn't have to stumble in the dark or be subject to blackmail. Every industry should be subject to regulation to protect both the public and the landlords, so…
I've been up and down because I haven't been able to have a steady supply of my adhd meds. The weeks I have it I kick ass and get everything done. The weeks I don't are rough and I barely make it through. Let me add: I an the director of 2 departments and the only employee of both of those departments. My deadlines are all made up by my boss who is obsessed with “measurable outcomes”, but doesn't seem to understand that creative work and work that requires the response of people outside of the company can't really be quantified into a “this many things per hour” I've been open with my boss that there is a nationwide shortage of my medication. I kicked ass last week and made a deadline that was damn near impossible. But the week before sucked because I was missing some of my meds…
“Nobody wants to work anymore.”
I never want to hear any of these conservative fucks say this shit ever again. Here I am at 28, five years after graduating college with a BA in Film studies and (some) industry experience under my belt. What does that get me? A termination from a local news channel at the very end of my “probationary” period as a camera operator. FIVE MONTHS AGO. They’ll keep the two reporters that lack any sort of journalistic integrity, but terminate the CamOp with the most resume experience. (Note: it’s worth noting that the reason given for my termination was for a speeding incident. However, after running into one of my former coworkers, he told me my position was never filled and they’ve been short staffed since my termination.) Meanwhile, the job market in my state is pure fucking garbage. Couldn’t even get a job as a delivery driver for one of…
Hey guys, so I started working for this company 3.5 years ago. Started out at $15.75/hr. I’ve made $7.22/hr in raises since then and was at $20.97/hr. Recently they made another increase due to high turnover rates. They increased the starting pay to $20/hr and all existing employees equally got a $2/hr boost. Now that’s great for new employees, but I feel like existing employees got the short straw. Should I not have gotten a $4.25 raise to account for the starting pay increase? Wanted to make sure I wasn’t crazy before asking to talk with a supervisor about it.
Lost my job today.
I knew it was coming. Four other managers got the same treatment before I did. One took matters into his own hands and resigned. And I thought about doing the same, but I don't quite have something else lined up. Couldn't put myself out like that. I guess they didn't see it the same way – they didn't care. I think the point in trying to make is that your work ethic (I was always early, always stayed late, did 60 hours a week when they expected 50, brought sales up, and owned my position) won't keep you anything. I fucking hated that job, but I needed the pay. I was also trying not to “job hop” in hopes that some longevity at a position might look good on my resume. But, obviously, that didn't work out how I planned. Let's face it – they don't care about you. Plain…
