It’s really depressing looking at the job postings on Indeed.

I've been trying to find jobs in healthcare and all of them are paying between 13 to 16 dollars an hour depending on experience. After my experience at one of these jobs, I'm thinking of a career change. I'm tired of being paid nothing and expected to run myself into the ground and if not I get fired. I want my own shit, I want to have my own business where I don't have to listen to and answer to anyone but myself. Yeah, a career change might be the way.

Today I got in trouble with my manager for showing up to work at my scheduled time.

You read that correctly. I showed up on time and ready for my shift and got in trouble. The reason “you should have told me yesterday! It’s your job to look at the next day and communicate with me. I would have had you come in later today.” Last I checked, and correct me if I’m wrong, it’s the managers job to schedule, keep track of said schedule, and so forth. This was just the final straw that broke the camels back. An exposing email is going out in a few weeks to the CEO and public once I secure another opportunity. Sorry, just had to vent.

I hate most trades workers

im gonna say it. Theyre so fucking annoying. They act like its cool to be exploited by a system. Oh and that labor union they all brag about being in? Yeah, wait until they find out they exist because its assumed they are all stupid because the only career they can get is physical labor. Now, I dont think all trades workers are dumb. Some are very smart people. My dad was a mechanic. Hes very smart. Theres just nothing cool about busting your ass and then getting in a lifted truck and going home all dirty and sweaty. As a woman, nothing is hot about that You know what is attractive? When a man comes home in his dress clothes, and is clean, and smells good. Its not about the money either. Has absolutely nothing to do with how much they make. Its the class. Its how they handle…

Should I talk to my boss about my workload? I really only have 20 hours of work a week and do everything he asks (telework). There are 3 months a year where I’m really busy. Our plan is to slowly giving me more responsibility as I gain experience.

I got a great review last year and got supplemental pay. We get a long really well. I’m just worried I’m not bringing enough to the table. Should I enjoy my “honeymoon phase” or be concerned?

My cousin signed herself into a psychiatric ward last night, but is scheduled to work tonight.

I am writing this on behalf of my cousin. I’m unsure how to proceed, and what information I am required to tell their job. They have been working at a restaurant establishment for nearly two months now. However, last night she signed herself in to a psychiatric ward out of fear of hurting herself. Her mom is distraught, and refuses to contact her job, as the rest of the family. She is placed in 72 hour psychiatric holding, however she is scheduled to work later on tonight. What can I say to her job to prevent her from getting fired? She loves her job dearly, but I don’t want her to lose her job due to her mental illnesses. What information am I required to tell her job to prevent a no call no show on her record? Thank you.

Mandatory Lunch Times

So my one job is in an ER and sometimes we will go 12-16 hour shifts with no break. It’s usually a protein bar while on the go. At the end of the shift we clock out “no lunch” meaning we don’t have 30 minutes removed from pay. This can suck but it’s the nature of an ER. Well this week management laid down the hammer. We are now being forced to take our lunches “when they are offered”. This means that on a 16 hour shift yesterday 7am to 11pm, my break was offered to me at 830am. Additionally, this week I was told that after I pass off my patients to the night crew, I had to go sit in the break room for 30 min after my shift because that was “when it was offered”. Lastly there is no food allowed out the break room so we…
