I felt like this needed some more visibility, article here https://www.nbcnews.com/business/business-news/ftc-ban-noncompete-agreements-employers-lobbying-rcna77169 Basically this is a continuance in big business trying to limit job opportunities for ex-employees, employees they've fired, etc. under the contrivance that you might 'proliferate trade secrets'. This has been used as a tool to make sure you essentially have to change industries of work entirely if you happen to lose out to one of the bigger companies. But honestly, I don't think anyone has the right to tell you who you can and cannot work for if you no longer have a formal contract with them as an employee.

I was let go…by a sticky note
I knew going into this job that it was a temporary position, but I needed the money and decided to take it. At the job interview I was told that this was going to be a 6+ month position, which I thought would be perfect and give me time to look for something better in the meantime while bringing in money. I did all the work they asked of me, even doing overtime when asked. And I didn’t slack off either. Fast forward 5 weeks. I got to work and their were far less cars than usual. I thought that was strange. I go inside to see all the other temps were gone. Weird, but I went about my business. The next day I show up, and all those extra cars are gone. Still weird, I thought. I go inside to sign in on my time sheet, and I see…

Quiet Quit and now Blacklisted
10 years ago, I worked at a Fortune 500 company. I worked there for 5 years. My first year, I made big changes, did the work of 50 people by myself, and made my manager look good. She got a huge bonus and told me to agree to take the minimum bonus since I was new there, so I did. The second year, I made even bigger changes, and did work that the entire team didn't even know was possible. I got the minimum bonus, again. For the next 3 years, I quiet quit, and got awards for the work I did, but I still got the minimum bonuses every year. What was the point, if no matter how hard I worked, I was still only getting the minimum bonus? After I left, my boss blacklisted me. I haven't worked since.
So i'm a dumbass thought i had a copy of my contract but i don't and doctusign expired after a certain time. So i've been working for this place for about a year and just wanted to re go over my contract see if i have any vacation days see and if there's anything about raise after a certain time period and a few other things but just how do i ask for another copy without seeming like a scum bag?
So I work evenings and nights, and Sunday night I got a call telling me the Monday morning supervisor called off sick, and asking me to stay a few hours until somebody could come in and take over. I told my boss sure, I'm happy to earn some overtime pay. Today, I get a text message telling me to come in late today and tomorrow because corporate told him to “make some adjustments” to avoid overtime. Guess who won't be staying late again in the future!
