So, as the title suggests, I interviewed for a role. In the interview, wages were discussed. I had my offer last Thursday, and it's 2k less than discussed. This job I was already taking a pay cut from my role currently, but this would be lowering my wage by 3k compared to what I currently receive. It's more disheartening because they raved about being perfect for the role and having more experience than required. Can anyone help with a professional reply that indicates that I would be interested in the role but can not take a real-time loss of 3k given the current state of inflation. I also need to advise that I'm not earning much (25k PA in my current role). They want me to drop to 12p more than the minimum living wage of the UK as of April. Currently, it's £1.57 ph above living wage, but that…

I keep having days off work.
We moved factorys (something that was not mentioned to me when I applied for the job six months ago) we're there for a few months while our old factory gets renovated. I fucking hate it. It's horrible from start to finish we've been there a month and I've worked maybe 2 weeks all in all. I need to stop having days off and just get it over with but even with my anti anxiety tablets I'm not sleeping. Surprised I haven't been sacked but I wouldn't even care if they did. The only saving grace is that if I were to go to my back up job I'd have to work longer hours and weekends and I love my weekends off with my partner
Ummm… but why…
I got fired & I’m stressed.
I was fired recently from a hospital I worked at for ~7 years. [Context: a ‘friend’ accessed my remote equipment while staying at my apartment due to marital problems. She accessed the medical record of the woman her husband cheated with to see if she was being provided accurate information about the STD transmitted to her due to the cheating. According to my old employer I had no way to verify the access was not from me so I was terminated with no warning.] A few weeks before my termination I had a GREAT interview with the VA & was told by a friend who is my connection for the position that I definitely have the job, we are just waiting for HR. I was fired 2/7 and the waiting game in between jobs is unbearable. The stress about bills and affording groceries and affording to just live has me…
My new job really touted “good work culture” and how important it is to the owners. After a week I have seen absolutely nothing that creates a positive work environment let alone good culture. Oh, wait! They have a basketball hoop installed in the office. That must be it!
I find it so frustrating when companies say one thing in interviews and then reality is something else entirely. There were red flags I didn’t see until now – the CEO began by saying they were “like a family” and had zero turnover rate so me joining them would mean I’d be 100% willing to stay for years. Then they said they had a very flexible schedule as long as I did my 8 hours, that I only needed to be there 1 day a week and the rest would be remote, but at first I would need to come a little bit more to the office for training. (I asked what they meant “a little more” – they just repeated ”just a bit more”). I was suspicious, but they needed someone ASAP due to a sudden longterm sick leave and I was jobless, so I took it when I…
My (former) manager has always been a few brain cells short of normal. I gave notice a month ago and worked out my two weeks. In my resignation letter I mentioned I’d be moving for an opportunity in another city about 6 hours away. Last week she texted me at 8pm on a sunday saying she needed me at the office at 9am the next day to sign some paperwork for my exit… Two weeks after my final day at the company and a week after my final pay. I laughed and blocked her number.
Fastfood managers
Did anyone else work at the same place as a sibling and the managers kinda just expected you to babysit them the whole time? For instance, I worked with my two brothers at KFC years ago and the managers would tell me to tell them to wash their hands, clean up or just general tasks. I wasn't even a manager either, I held the same position as my brothers and whenever they messed up, the managers would come for me & tell me that I need to solve their issues. It was incredibly annoying, to say the least. Like… y'all are the managers, why can't y'all tell them or do something about it lol
I posted about my new office job a week ago. Ive been so sick from anxiety i had to skip work for 3 days. Yesterday i found a part time offer for a cleaning job (20hrs a week, 5.50$ an hour). I'd apply for it right away but my family member sat me down last week and told me i'm not allowed to quit this office job for something less lucrative. I know he means well but this job is so hard on my mental health and i can't imagine performing well enough once i'm fulltime especially. The anxiety symptoms i'm experiencing are insane, i'm starting to feel more depressed and drink more just to calm down a little and i know that's not good. So do i choose a job that will employ me fulltime eventually and will make my family happy or do i choose a part time…
I started a new job almost a month ago. Pretty perfect job for someone who hates them. 5hr shifts Saturdays & Sundays Today I used their call in line where it specifically states that you can EITHER call, email or text if you're going to be absent. I emailed & sent a text because I fucking had the option to. Anyway, a few hours later I got an email stating: “Hey CSW, We did not see a call out for your scheduled shift and no communicating about an absence is a no call no show final. Please let us know if you reached out to us. Thank you and we will see you Saturday.” I swear to all that's holy, no one better approach me on Saturday about this shit.
