Basically I have a job that is public facing. My boss owns the business. Basically halfway through a meeting with a client I learned that my niece was born and passed shortly after due to a birth defect. We knew she had one but we were hoping for the best outcome, obviously. My family was keeping me updated through text since they are one state over. I held back my tears and finished my meeting with my client. I am also 30 weeks pregnant and hearing that my sister’s baby didn’t make it was extremely upsetting. Afterwards I did my best to let everyone know I had a family emergency and that I needed to reschedule my next meetings. I tried to call my next client and I left a message asking them to reschedule. They showed up 15 minutes early so I spoke to them in person asking to…

over a year now with no raise
My monthly 1:1 is this week. The last 3 months i've brought up the lack of raises given due to cost of living. I've been with my company almost 2 years now. My work is being used by our training team for examples/expectations. I'm at the end of my rope. How can I make it clear to my supervisor that I need a raise NOW. I'm tired of being brushed off, tired of my living expenses getting tighter, and mostly tired of not being fairly compensated. Any advice on making myself clear? I'm considering letting my sup know that I'll be polishing my resume. I'm so frustrated at this point. I've been making $24.64 for over a year and it's not cutting it. I want 27$ to afford COL plus inflation
At first I said PTO but then I thought about it to myself and was like why should I have to use my PTO when having to attend military duties. I do NOT want to use my PTO while at my military duties. That’s doesn’t even make sense. That’s not my fault. So I said excused absences. Will the excused absences affect anything?
i was pulled out from under a different boss and put under a supervisor, moved out of my closing office and given an additional task ontop of my already crazy work load. I was doing the job of two people. They waited to see me fail with this task ( a schedule) with no prior training but an hour zoom call. They justified the termination by not completing the schedule in a timely fashion (no specific time per week was communicated) after returning after 2 days off (one was a company paid holiday and 1 pto day) ontop of training an admin with a task i have been juggling since feburary. I'm taking this as a sigh of relief as this job sucked the whole essence and soul out of me. I was left as a husk of my former self, totally burned out. I filed for unemployment and have…
I am a registered nurse. Most of my 10 years of nursing has been spent in long-term care facilities. I have a theory. Workers are classified by legal credentials, but legal credentials don't necessarily mean ethical credentials, meaning that if your grandmother needed counseling she would get it from a certified nurse's assistant rather than an RN or a counselor. The low paid certified nurses assistant is my anchor at my job, they are warriors and they will sing your mom to sleep. It's not right that they are paid the same amount to take care of you as you would pay to get your hair cut? How is this a society that makes sense if you give a shit about anybody you love because guess what, they WILL get sick.
