I worked for a local newspaper until a couple of hours ago. Had been there for 2-3 years. Before this, I had been on disability leave for a little more than a year, so you can imagine I was looking for stability and structure to help me take care of my health upon my return. I came back to work at the end of January and it was an absolute shit show. My director (who is co-owner of the business) had an assistant director who is now on maternity leave for a year. She didn't find a replacement because she figured she could do the job herself. It has left us, the employee, without a contact person for everyday questions or hiccups. She assured us she'd be available for us. She wasn't. Took her hours to reply to a simple question and I had to remind her to keep me…

Drug test and second background check
I am tired of companies lying with they shady recruiters. . Now I have to piss clean Monday because I thought the job didn't drug test. I don't accept jobs that drug test. I like to smoke after work . I can't get yelled at for hours straight in a call center with out a little bit of the lord's lettuce . They sketchy about the hours and time off . They had good reviews so I'm pissed. I'm tired. My mom just died and I had to put my sister in a home. Like I don't need this stress from an employer. Do they not know that they can not play people money like this? Do I got the job or not? I mean I left my other job for no reason. These employers be doing too much and then. Had the nerve to ask us to donate blood…
I work in a professional engineering company in Florida USA. I have to fill out a time card down to the 15 minute mark. Every bit of my time must be billable to a specific client. Very little of the time can be billed to the office. Some meetings, but a lot of things like down time while IT fixes my computer, I don’t get paid for that. I also don’t get any overtime pay. I also don’t get any unpaid leave. I was told when I was hired that because of the cost savings from eliminating complex bookkeeping related to paid leave, the savings gets passed on to me with a larger hourly rate (about $50/hour). I do get essentially unlimited unpaid leave. I can take off whenever as long as I’m not bailing on critical meetings. I was under the impression that you’re either salaried or hourly and…
According to the training I am required to attend at work, my communication style will fall into 1 of 4 categories: Blue – the language of feelings Brown – the language of commands Green – the language of precision Red – the language of creativity I thought I was done with personality quizzes back in middle school. Why are these so common in the workplace?
Toddler Tantrum “Supervisor”
I recently moved across the country and started a new job about 5 months ago. I love the owners and all my coworkers. Except one. My “supervisor”. He has a reputation here for being a jerk, and I was even warned about him before I even met him the day I started. I’ve also been told he’s chased off several people. Initially he was cool and I thought maybe he was just misjudged. Until he decided that I wasn’t listening (when I was just so overwhelmed with the chaos I inherited with my position) and decided to start talking behind my back to a coworker, one of the owners, and an independent contractor who works with us. I tried a couple different things to try and make it easier to remember and keep track of things and he was nasty and degrading to me about everything I tried. He also…
