Two weeks’ notice
Not sure whether or not this is considered a “hot take”, especially in this subreddit, but… Two weeks' notice (or a month or 60 days or whatever your particular position or employer dictates) when voluntarily leaving your employer is a courtesy, NOT a requirement. I put in two weeks' notice (again, as a courtesy) at one job several years ago and they told me I had to stay until they hired a replacement AND I had to fully train said replacement. I walked out that same day, as soon as I packed my personal effects.
Somebody drug test this Karen..
Incentive program
I know this is off topic for this forum but you all are the perfect people to ask. My boss just asked me to come up with an incentive program to get our drivers to do the job the way we need them to do it. We absolutely cannot write anyone up. Most of our drivers do whatever they want instead of doing their main job functions the way we ask them to. We are the transportation department of a public school district and we finally got approval for a budget for an incentive program. The budget size is unknown. My first thought was to raffle off cash prizes, the drivers get raffle tickets for each task they do that we ask them to do. Anyone have any better ideas?
I have been feeling sick for a few days and unfortunately used up my sick time. I went to the doctor in order to get some medication as my condition was worsening and my body is over it. I got a note from the doctor that said I should stay home to let the medication work, that is 3 days off. My manager tells me I cannot use a doctors note as an excuse out of work. The only time that is allowed is if I have used up all of my sick, and vacation time, then i can go ahead and use the doctors note as an excuse to not have my days counted against me. Why go to the doctor? Why pay the copay, get checked, get the note notifying that you are incapable of working… and I have to use vacation days? I’ve had these vacation days…
Not sure why this happened but I really don’t want to have to make the extra trip out, compared to 5 days. I asked fellow coworkers and found out it’s not a mistake and has happened to them. First time for me. Maybe just let it go but if it happens again then mention it? Not all 8 hours per day sure, but something about 6 days sort of bugs me, know what I mean?
