Tl;Dr Does bullying an employee to an extreme so hard because you want to quit fall under wrongful termination? This is my specific situation (and rant); I loved my job… until one manager started harassing and bullying me after I didn't take on her work load. She's menaced at me by holding a knife to me and actually assaulted me after weeks of intense bullying and loudly complaining about me/throwing me under the bus. I didn't even refuse her work- I wanted more training and information on certain aspects and she outright refused and got belligerent. The other manager I've brought issues to has become “good like a durian” friends with the other manager. Although she was being bullied so hard by the first manager when she first got here that I was used as a crutch and the entire thing began to make ME uncomfortable! She's illegally blamed me…
Parttime, fired for taking breaks.
Hey y'all. Someone close to me, let's call her P recently got fired after calling in sick for the next day (she threw up multiple times that night & didn't get a single second of sleep). She didn't get fired for being sick too often, nor for any other (imo) valid reason. She got fired because she takes breaks too often. She works at a place in the Netherlands, and the place changed owners at least 3 times. The latest, and current owner is a Chinese lady who barely speaks Dutch, she asked P multiple times for help regarding financial and administrative topics, and she never changed any rules or worktimes for anyone working there. Now, after about 5 months of working for the latest owner, she got fired because she was not allowed to take any breaks throughout the day. Now, I don't exactly know the rules regarding breaks…
Why right to repair is so important
I work in Defense as a software engineer. Ive been at my current company for almost two years, and I have had absolutely stellar feedback on my performance for months now. My boss has actively told me that I am the highest performer of any engineer at my level. In December, they gave me a 5% pay bump to $78,500, which for where I live is pretty great. In February they hired a girl for my same position straight out of college. No internships. No work experience. She calls on me throughout the day to sit down and help her solve problems and navigate our code base. It's not just her — I have level II and III engineers calling me from throughout the company asking for my help and input. I've become our company's expert on a specific standard that our sector of the industry is using. My project…
Why handing in your resignation is becoming trendy And while departing workers cite lots of reasons for turning in papers – a desire for more flexibility, money or benefits, or to leave bad company culture – there’s also the idea that quitting begets quitting. Researchers coined an effect called turnover contagion to describe a phenomenon in which once one person resigns, the probability of their colleagues following suit increases – according to one report, as many as 25%. With resignation numbers dominating headlines, says Klotz, the effect has spread rapidly through the working world. In some ways, says Klotz, the “coolness factor” of leaving a job can be empowering for workers. “Many of us felt a bit powerless over the years of the pandemic, and even the years prior to it,” he says. “Resigning from your job can be an empowering moment.” I choked down my vomit as I read…
Has anyone been mobbed out of a job?
Last year, I decided to leave my job due to workplace mobbing. It was a distressing experience as I was falsely accused and denied personal development opportunities. To make matters worse, one of the individuals involved, who I considered a friend, lied to me about why I was being denied these opportunities, even though it was evident that false accusations were the root cause. What made the situation more unethical was that this individual, even before we spoke, had already decided that I was the problem. This former friend went ahead and reported me to our higher-up without giving me a chance to explain my side of the story. It was incredibly hurtful to realize that some people involved in this workplace mobbing were individuals I had considered friends. The entire situation felt chaotic as my former friends sided with a known liar and gossiper to sabotage my career in…
I never truly was against work in general, it was more of a “if you don't value your worker's time enough you should not have workers in the first place” type of deal I thought about it from a early age (eg. a lot of underpaid people etc.) I also despise fixed working hours because this does not make sense but that is not the topic here I am 25 and experience early/midstage symptoms of burnout syndrome. Well, I am somewhat mentally predisposed to stress induced illness but it is still sick, let me explain. Started to work in this company in late 2018, it was boring but got better overtime. Got 2 promotions and eventually started working in a software development team as quality assurance. Actually that was something positive and I was on the verge of quitting shortly before but then thought “let's see how this goes, can…
