This is from the R.M. Palmer Company, which makes chocolate candy. Known better as the place where employees reported a strong gas leak, but were told to go back to work. The factory exploded later that same day, and killed 7 employees and hurt 10 more. The company's response was to post this self-serving announcement on their website. You've got the standard “thoughts and prayers” bullshit, calling “employees as family”, thanking everyone's support for the company, and then announcing “return to work” like it's business as usual. They also refer employees to public resources. But nothing about compensation for employees. Nothing about paying for funerals. Nothing about “we screwed up and will take responsibility”. If a poor drives around drunk, kills 7 people, and injures 10 others, they'll definitely get handcuffed and hauled into jail. But the COO decided that the few staff that we have to come to the office full time needlessly had to come, completely ignoring the fact that most of us had plans. And the worst thing about it is that we don't even have any projects or work to finish. We just had to come in and look at each other's faces because we are not even allowed to talk to each other without them starting the obsessive micro-management. The truth is I don't even understand how capitalism works because they literally lose money by coming in and having the office fully operational without us even producing. It's like doing evil just…
