Don’t stay forever
Young workers, whatever you do, if you feel your workplace is getting stupid, GET OUT. I stayed too long. Pay and “stability” for no upward movement, no promotions, no growth. They will treat you like an ottoman eventually. 3-5 years max. Then leave before they exploit you. Keep yourself fresh. -23-year veteran of same/shit-different day with a stale skill set.
I’m looking for some advice here. My job knew my wife’s upcoming due date for a little while. A few weeks ago, they put me on a performance improvement plan that ends one week before my wife’s due date with a possible outcome that I will get fired if I don’t meet the expectations outlined in the plan. I have already filed for and have screenshots of them approving my fmla both in the system and emails from HR. I live in Pennsylvania. What should I be doing now to protect myself? As I said, I already have collected screenshots and saved them on a google drive with all of this documentation. I’ve also saved screenshots of questionable or hostile written interactions with my supervisor as well as a journal of our interactions that have been verbal. As background my supervisor is at best unprofessional and at worst, verbally abusive…
Where the idea of each worker competing against every other worker started.
It's pretty surreal how they don't even consider for a moment what this is going to do for people that have been doing this job for years even decades. All to save some profit for their shareholders. I am hopeful I get to start fresh. But I don't want to work for a company that's obsessed with their shareholders. I would love to work for a company that's employer focus. Anyone have any idea how I should start looking?
Do these folks know what entry level means? Do they just not care? Job hunting for a more secure career has been an absolute nightmare for me because every single entry level job on LinkedIn is in fact not entry level.

Does anyone have any tips or job ideas to make the most bang for your buck as quickly and easy as possible? I work retail and honestly the job isn’t bad, but with inflation I’m no longer making enough to afford all of my monthly payments. Wondering what you all do to make good money without much effort. Investments maybe? I’m looking for something consistent.
