I 25F have been working at this company for 3 years. Almost a year ago, I was moved from my home country to Dubai. A little context: my home country recently went into the worst economic crisis and everyone's money was lost in the bank. So I didn't have family to back me up financially, and this company was my first ever job fresh out of university. They knew: 1. I didn't have money because of the shit salary I had and 2. that I had no bank account because of my country. After moving, HR told me they keep me in studio until my visa is done because I'm not allowed to rent an apartment legally in Dubai without a Visa, meanwhile I couldn't pay for an airbnb because I didn't have a bank account (I also cant open a bank account without a visa here). 3 weeks in…

tl;dr New HR Manager hired someone from former company for a role that I applied for. I applied for an HR position within my company. Per our handbook, the company is required to post opportunities for employees within before opening the position to outside of company applications. I don’t really see myself in HR but I wanted the opportunity to gain the resume experience and improve relations and morale with our staff, in addition to moving up within into a salary position with better pay. After I put in this application, our recruiter did not look me in the eye or talk to me directly for weeks. Eventually I receive an invite for a Discussion with head of HR, but it was not an interview. Right then and there I already knew I didn’t get the job. I went in trying to be optimistic. I was told I needed a…
Except being taken advantage of? I am sys admin who does not manage any employees but expected to work at least 8 hours a day and off hours if necessary with no extra compensation. I still have to put in PTO requests for appointments and sick time.
Hi. I want to know how to write a professional resignation letter if you worked for a company for 5 days? Usually I worked for company for 3 years or more but I found that this one is really shit. Thanks.
My new job made me realize something
So I got a new job about two months ago. It's in a field I am very passionate about. The people are nice, and I actually enjoy going in every day. I know that's not the vibe of this sub, but it has really helped me realize something about previous jobs. I have been mistreated in absolutely every other job I've had. I've been admonished for sitting around doing nothing because I haven't been given anything to do (even though I've asked for assignments). I have been called lazy for things that I can't control (neurological disorder). I have been yelled at for not doing something the right way when I was never taught the right way. I have worked customer service and been screamed at on the daily for things I hear nothing to do with. I have been overworked and overwhelmed and convinced that this was what the…
Why is everything supposed to suck?
Hello, I hope everyone is having a good day. Im wondering if im legally entitled to PTO and if so, how to proceed with my employer. The business and I are physically in NY but the owner is in Michigan. I just got hired about w month ago. There are about 10 employees at the facility in NY. Am i entitled to some PTO (or will i be after 60 or 90 days)? I know a couple years ago NY passed something that gave even part time workers a mandatory 56 hours of paid sick time at large companies. If i do get PTO how should i go about pointing this out to my employers? Thank you
