When is America going to wake up?
Honestly love working for this company. My career has put me into a nice remote job with lots of perks and great people. Problem is I'm not getting paid nearly what I signed on for. I took a sizeable paycut too. I have been apologized numerous times, but nothing happens. What do I do here? My tenure here has been 5 months with guaranteed commission beyond 3 months.
Why do people on here hate capitalism?
If you ignore the exploitation of the working class, company and government coordinated attacks (and murder) on labor organizers and rights, destruction of the world environment, poisoning it's own citizens for short term gain, making bare necessities a luxury, privatization of social services and education to benefit the owning class, besides these small things what's the deal with hating capitalism, y'all?
Due to a complicated work situation my boss wants a note before I can come back to work. I was laid off because I'm a seasonal worker which is where the confusion happened. Anyway due to repeated impact on my leg, unsure if it was a work injury but it certainly wasn't helping, I got a bad case of tendinitis where I had to go see a specialist to make sure I didn't royally fuck it up. But the appointment was after I got laid off so the stars aligned with being able to take it easy while it healed. But apparently if I hadn't been laid off the standard protocol is to just wear a brace and go to physical therapy until you are better. My ankle was swollen, I couldn't walk for long periods of time, before the brace I was limping to keep my ankle as stable…
Just curious what happens for temps during a potential outbreak of COVID because I’ve never been in this position and am wondering what will happen if I end up with COVID myself. I have a coworker who’s with me all day and I’m almost positive he’s been exposed and now has it but is being too obtuse to actually go home and get tested, just wondering if I end up with COVID, what is the probability that I will lose my job or be unpaid just because I’m a temp? Thanks in advance guys.
Aggressive networking
A few days ago I had a LinkedIn connection invitation from someone I knew but never worked with, and I ignored it. This morning I have an email from LinkedIn with the subject: “Respond to Brandon's invitation now”. Gotta say that sounds aggressive, needy, and maybe even narcissistic. Now simply on principle I'm going to ignore LinkedIn and let it think about what it did.
My roommate works in the warehouse for a very large & well-known company. He missed 3 days of work to be with his mother during an unexpected medical emergency she was facing. The company is now not allowing him to come back until he provides a medical note for HER emergency. He will be changing jobs as soon so it’s not like this is a forever thing, but he was hoping to stay employed there while he finds his next job. Trying to figure out how to proceed, as this seems like a huge violation of his mother’s privacy. Thank you in advance for any advice!
