I'm convinced she's on a campaign to sabotage me. It's the only explanation for what's happened! I work in a cafe and I have my till, the one I always use. A couple of times I made a mistake and it showed that small amounts of money were missing, but that's normal as I've not been there super long. Then I stopped making mistakes for ages, but the next time I did, I told her about it casually. And suddenly…money starts going missing. Every day. The owner comes to me saying it's the same amount almost every time. He doesn't accuse me but there's a tense atmosphere, I get worried and start being extra careful. On one very quiet day I had so few orders I KNEW I didn't make a mistake. Same amount of money went missing again. She's the only other person who uses it. When I complained…

Income Inequality
Hey everyone, I just wanted to share some thoughts on income inequality and our work culture. It's a problem that's been bothering me for a while now, and I think it's time we start talking about it. We live in a society where hard work is glorified and celebrated. We're taught from a young age that success comes to those who work hard and grind it out day after day. But the reality is that not everyone has the same opportunities or the same ability to work hard. And even for those who do work hard, the rewards are not always distributed equally. Income inequality is a major issue that affects millions of people worldwide. The rich keep getting richer while the poor keep struggling to make ends meet. And the sad truth is that our work culture perpetuates this inequality. We're told that if we want to succeed, we…
Should I run while I have the chance?
So I’ve just received an offer from a big Japanese pharmaceutical company for a remote role (I live in the US). For starters, they texted me for the role and conducted my interview through a messaging app (Wire Messaging). Offer letter seemed legit and the person I’ve been in contact with is apparently the director of HR of sorts. No one has physically called up to this point in onboarding at all. At this point, they’ve sent me a check (around 4k) to pay for all the software programs I will need in which they will send me a laptop to download them all on to complete my duties. This has never been procedure in any of my previous remote roles to do all of this work just to start training. Usually im sent a box with my workstation and I clock in. Has anyone else experienced the whole “lets…
Pirate Enlightenment
u/thenation The question of if non-hierarchical societies existed or not is irrelevant, they in all likelihood did exist, but that we as a species can choose to create one today, or tomorrow, it is a choice that we have, and it solves a great many problems with our world today. #DavidGraeber #Anarchy #Democracy #PirateEnlightenment https://www.thenation.com/article/world/david-graeber-pirates-madagascar/
Be a gadfly
I’ve been inspired by this quote by MLK Jr lately. Don’t shut up. Make people uncomfortable for ruining lives. Be obnoxious. Knock on the door till it falls off the hinges. Be a gadfly. “Just as Socrates felt that it was necessary to create a tension in the mind so that individuals could rise from the bondage of myths and half-truths to the unfettered realm of creative analysis and objective appraisal, so must we see the need for nonviolent gadflies to create the kind of tension in society that will help men rise from the dark depths of prejudice and racism to majestic heights of understanding and brotherhood.” -MLK Jr, from “Letter from the Birmingham Jail”
I’m leaving my job this week because it is a toxic working environment. I’ve been making many errors in my work due to the anxiety and micromanaging. My manager asked me to explain why I did something at work and realized I made a major mistake again. I had made this mistake at work already and now I‘n feeling very anxious and worried. Has anyone gone through anything similar? How do I get over this stress that my errors will be caught even after I leave.
Burnt Out & Hopeless
The price of things and how little motivation I have to go to work has started to really get to me lately. My boyfriend and I have been stressed about how much rent and groceries are, and there aren't any cheaper places that aren't the size of a single room. My boss has been promising a raise for many months now, but I doubt that will come to anything. My team is the lowest paid IT technicians in the entire university system, and we've tried getting a bigger raise than the paltry 3-5% annual increase we get without any luck. My boyfriend wants to quit the big store sell-everything chain he's worked at since he got out of high school, but every other job he tries seems to be a flop (he's trying an electrician job next, but the contact won't contact him back very easily). I want more in…
