Did a side hustle with a Health care company that just ghosted me when the pandemic hit. ( Well known home care company) Got a call two weeks ago from their recruiter who wanted to see if I was interested in being reactivated and that there would be a “bonus” after I worked 40 hours. Start going through the process and I quickly figure out that all their front office staff is staffed by interns, which is why I can never get a straight answer to some basic questions, specifically the ones regarding pay. So fast forward this week, after assuming that the pay scale is the same for said side job that I used to do, I discover that this office has a pay rate 50% lower for the work I did in 2019. After emailing the intern and provided evidence of this disparity in pay I receive a…

I’ve had the feeling that I’m gonna get fired soon and for the past month or so I’ve been submitting loa’s to avoid going to work. I work in a warehouse and they are notorious for letting you drive all the way to work, work half the day, and tell you you’re fired only halfway through your 10 hour shift. It’s in a different city than I live in and I don’t have a car so I mostly commute using Uber and it would just be an inconvenience. I’ve been submitting emergency Covid loa’s because they take me out of work for a week and they’re paid, so I was wondering if I could get into any legal trouble if I continued to do this until I find a new job?
That's it. That's all.
This is why I am Anti-Work.
RM Palmer, a chocolate manufacturing company in Pennsylvania, had an explosion yesterday. The factory is gone. 3 people are dead. 4 people are missing. This is why I am Anti-Work. Do you think any of these people wanted to be there? They didn’t dream of working at this company. Even if they did, they absolutely would not have traded their life for this company. Think of why they went to work; pay bills, buy groceries, save up for a vacation, get a new place to live. If they had a family, and were working for them, that family still has those worries today – along with mourning a loved one. Why should you care? One, no one will be held accountable. They’ll get a fine that costs them one workers yearly pay. But two? Look at the reviews online for working there. This place had a reputation for being awful,…
Remember this
I haven't been in a fight with my employer or anything, but it still needs to be said (in case anyone forgets): Your employer isn't doing you a favor by hiring you. I have read, time and time again, how employers want to make it seem like they're some noble person for hiring you and that you should be grateful. You shouldn't be more grateful than the grocery store should be grateful for me shopping there. They offer groceries and in return, I give them money. You offer your employer your time and labor, and in exchange they pay you. Unless they hire/keep you despite having no use of you, for the sake of providing you with money, you have nothing to be grateful for, neither does your employer. It's a trade, not charity.
