France March 2023: not easy
We're paying it dearly, but we stand out ground.
I have gotten raises of anywhere between 20 cents and 50 cents semi-annually and annually. I'm not even sure how much. I know my wage was supposed to be closer to 15 dollars an hour, but when I was finally able to log into my online Paychex account my raise was only 13 something an hour. I don't even know exactly how many raises I got or exactly how much it was supposed to be, but I know I got SEVERAL reviews and raises since 2021, and yet my wage hadn't been changed at all since November 2021. I did the math and my employer owes me something like 2500-3500 in back pay, or about 50 dollars a week of what I should have been getting. I think this was just negligence on my employer, as he has been a decent employer from my experience of working with him for…
Running out of ideas to stay sane
I’m currently working 4 ten hour days a week at a job I relatively enjoy. I believe it’s got a bunch to do with my neurodivergence but still, at the end of the day I’m exhausted & have no time or energy for anything I enjoy. I just can’t wrap my head around why we’re doing this. Why have we collectively decided we work all day everyday. Why do we act like this is what we’re supposed to do. It seems so clear to me that this is not how I need to be living but because of the society I live in & not being able to eat or have a roof over my head without working to excess I’m reduced to this. It’s been suggested to me to try & start my own business or something of the sort. Again I don’t see this as purposeful. Why is…
Worst job ever.
Worst company ever formerly RGIS which was acquired by WIS So, I have been progressively getting worse jobs even though I have a bachelor's in electrical engineering. It's always, you need 5 years of experience, but they never give anyone experience. Anway, RGIS did inventory for stores. Think: Walmart, Kohls, Stop & Shop, Target, Seven Eleven, Home Depot, Bed Bath Beyond. We did inventories for all those companies because the job was so horrendous, they didn't want their own employees doing the work. We got paid minimum wage and in almost every case were paid less than the store employees. We would come into that store once or twice a year and count everything and we would do this every day at different stores. I would have to speak to cops 3 times a week because we we're in stores past their closing times (with permission). Anyway, I started the…
I work at a small non profit in MN and this week I had to request pto twice without two week notice in one week because of some personal stuff. I also have completed all my work for the week so I would have nothing to do the day I requested off. I have not put in a pto request sense November of last year. The handbook states “excessive pto requests will be reviewed on a case by case basis and maybe subject to disciplinary action including termination.” Excessive is never defined. I also figured if it wasn’t okay they would deny the request or say hey if we approve this we will need to write you up (the whole it never hurts to ask philosophy). They also did this after I requested accommodation for a quieter work place due to construction taking place in the main building where I…
I was gonna quit anyway in May. The company has done many things for me, my boss has helped me out a lot too, but ever since they sold the company to a rich man that doesn't give a shit about us my boss has become extremely money-driven and wants to cut expenses (aka our overtime). There's soooo many things he could fix instead but he's getting really fixated on my overtime. $200 extra a week is really not gonna hurt a multi-million company will it? He first told me he wants the average of EACH department to be 45 hours max. I was calculating everyone's hours and we were at 43. This week I did more OT than allowed and he told me I need to go down on my hours (I thought it was an average??) and then he doesn't tell anything to other small departments who are…
