So, there's like studies or w/e that say that people live longer when they are active. People who retire and relax on the couch are more likely to see the next realm. If you only had these two options, which one would you choose: -Have a job and work slave your entire life until you're 90 (I know this is fucked up, but lol at this being an actual thing) or -Retire at 55 and KNOW you're going to die at 65 Me, personally, I would retire at 55 and enjoy the 10 years of true freedom over slaving until death. Also the economy and population is getting much worse, so you're super slaving in misery
I started a job in early January in the defense contracting sector and thought it was going pretty well so far until the end of last week. My coworker who has been pretty overbearing and is one of those people that will make mountains out of molehills (we all know the type, let’s call her Jane) cornered me in the office and went on an hour tirade about my underperformance. I won’t go into specifics here, but the gist of it was that she accused me of ignoring deadlines of work assigned to me, being unresponsive, and falsely charging hours to the client (a Gov office) because I haven’t done enough work to justify charging 40 hours per week. Then after explaining my side to her as politely as I could and thinking we cleared things up, I get an email at 11:45 PM on Monday with all her accusations…

Very long list of things, but the stupidest thing she had to say was that I didn’t greet the client fast enough when he joined the call. Are you joking me? Nope not a joke. This is my life.
Laid off 30 weeks pregnant….
Ehhh, nope.
I work in Healthcare with minors with disabilities, a tough job on the best of days. 2020 saw the loss of our 30 minute lunch break so we've been expected to eat on the clock for the last 2+ years, which is easier said than done for most of us in this field on a good day. Today we got a memo that, effective immediately, we are required to only take 7 minute breaks instead of the 15 minutes we'd normally get because of how insurance rolls up billable time. The kicker is, we still only get 1 break a day. We are already struggling to keep people, let alone attract new people. Just how out of touch are these paper jockeys that call themselves “superiors”? And where the hell are the labor laws protecting employees? I had the 30 off 15 on break law shoved in my brain by…
