Hey Guys, Last Thursday I had to go home from work because of backpain and I called in sick for the week after because I still have pain in my neck and back. Heres the thing: I am a Industrial Powder Coater so not everyone can do my job. One collegue quit, the other is sick too and one is going to be sent to have his vacation. My boss called me yesterday and asked me if I could come in even though im sick and not able to work. My Problem is that I break my mind over wether I should try it and go to work or rest until next week. I dont even know what to say to my boss. Im new in that company and Im still on trial time so I dont really know what I could expect (I live in Germany if that helps)…

So I got a job working in an office a little over a year ago but not as an employee. I am a contractor. Job was okay but the office is closed too many days. I guess it never dawned on me that I was legally required to work until the contract expires. I read over the contract and no where does it state that there will be a penalty for leaving early. I found a salary position and I was just going to give a two weeks notice like “normal” tomorrow but my boyfriend seems to think I might not be able to do this because “I signed a contract, can I really just quit” It doesn't say anywhere in the contract that I HAVE to work to a certain date just that my contract expires in July of this year and I can bill up to X amount…
All a part of the plan.
I quit today and GODDDD it felt good
It’s my 8th week at the company and after my first shift, I already knew this wouldn’t last and started looking for other work. In that short amount of time I’ve been yelled at for working too long (they don’t like paying overtime, even 5 minutes) even if the office has fucked up the times on our job sheets, I’ve been trained differently by every single person I’ve worked with so am still asking questions about things I should know by now but don’t, I’ve been told that I’ll work during school hours (the ONLY appealing thing about the job) and I’m always late picking my kids up from school because they give me longer shifts than I was promised, they preach that they’re inclusive for hiring so many single parents but really the only reason these women don’t quit is because they need the money to feed their kids,…
So I had this really weird idea…
Work – Life Balance?
I read this tweet (short thread, but comments good too) about work-life balance. He's an attorney who says that 40+ is not enough for him, “it’s probably a more accurate statement to say it’s not enough time to accomplish the goals I have.” I think he has a solid take, stating its a decision he makes with his partner (re childcare, family time, etc). One commenter stated, “Balance means work and life are equal. That’s never going to happen! I’m all about blend. I’m always asking how can I blend work and life in a way that (1) allows me to enjoy both and (2) provide for my family beyond just my salary and benefits.” If its your choice, and you're not made to feel guilty about it (“we're a family here” or “you're letting down your work mates”), is 40+ hour work weeks acceptable? Can work-life balance, control, blend…
Howdy, new here. So I am leaving my corporate company after 2 years come this Thursday. I intentionally stayed past the first quarter so I could obtain the usual bonus. We had been instructed to keep track of our work this quarter like usual, but the bonus game had not been formally decided— everything is a game at this company. Yesterday they notified us that they were retroactively removing Q1 bonuses and completely changing the structure. I messaged my boss and essentially “there is no Q1 bonus.” There was no communication about this at all over the quarter- they only informed us the day after the quarter ended. Bonuses are now based on company performance as a whole- which is something I have contributed to during Q1. Should I be pursuing a bonus? What can be done. Thanks y’all.
