If only more managers were like this
Respect
“I’ll concede that apart from the shrunken labor force, hard data on the impact of new work arrangements is at best inconclusive, since statistics remain distorted by Covid effects. And I’ll concede that technology, particularly video conferencing, has made remote work more feasible, particularly if structured as specific days designated as remote. Lastly, I’ll concede that some of the time spent on commuting (and perhaps, personal grooming) can be considered wasted” Steven Rattner is 70 years old. He is having trouble adjusting to the new norm.
I actually used to work at Hertz some years ago before this, and really I don't know why I went back to this company. I was a driver/transporter for them during college so it was a little more “carefree” in the sense that I wasn't cooped up in a run down office getting treated like shit all the time, like all my coworkers in customer service. However I had to resign from that job when my manager wouldn't let me take any time off for final exams. Not even so much as an hour, and yes I even tried to negotiate him down to one hour, for a very important finals week in college. I told him two weeks in advance. Do you see what I see?
Hello, all- I am reaching closer to thirty now, but for all of my life, I have been fairly conservative. After seeing and working in other places in the world years back, seeing how much debt I have for getting my graduate degree, my friends from overseas visit multiple countries in just a year, friends in even developing nations getting maternity, paid sick leave up to thirty days, and vacation with a minimum of twenty to thirty days (separate from vacation), I have begun to almost despise conservatism and liberals alike. In these places, medical debt is unheard of, student debt is minimal if at all, and everyone has separate time to be sick and time for several vacations every year. They are in the same relative middle class that I am in. They have less stress because the system isn't working to keep them in debt. Also, their annual…
Just sort of quit my job
Made a post last night about how I couldn't really deal with my job but don't have many options. Turns out I was a lot closer to my breaking point than I thought and I called out on my commute and told them I think I am going to quit tomorrow. I've been sort of thinking about quitting for the past few months but honestly this was done on a whim on the verge of a nervous breakdown. I'm back home now on two hours of sleep and unsure what my next move is. They're scrambling right now telling me I'm a great worker and even are willing to compromise on a couple of things, but I'm still not sure staying is my best move for my future. Sure it's above industry standard pay and good benefits, but it's not like I'm making a killing here either. Think I'm going…
