It is so socially unacceptable to come out and say that there is an extreme behavioral issue in the USA. I made a community where people can finally discuss that, as well as strategies to leave. Join if you like: r/TeacherExodus
I’m just gonna post a novel in here describing my phone call with my bosses boss today, and you let me know if I’m in the wrong or chime in. I’m a 4th year plumbing apprentice working for a great company in new construction high rises. I Love the trade, good company, but I hate the industry. I love coming into work and learning somthing new from a more experienced plumber/tradesperson, but I’ve always resented the power relationship between employee and employer. Mainly people who work in our office who are out of touch with what’s happening in the field. I mean after all, they make money off of our labour in the overhead costs. Anyway here is what happened today Our office has recently put out this safety app that all workers are required to fill out every morning. The idea being if you can list hazards and safety…
I work at a senior living facility and about a month ago we found out that my mother in law has liver cancer so I called off work when we found out (only 1 day) to go see her. The other day I called off of work because she had a stroke and was placed in the ICU and had to have a clot removed from her brain. I texted my boss the situation and she ignored me so I was left worrying about my mother in law and worrying about my job because I never got a response. The next day she said if I call out again within 90 days then I will receive a write up. I'm really reconsidering my employment at the place.
There's never any mention in government for voting on mandatory vacation pay, mandatory parental paid leave that is long enough and enough is paid to where both parents can stay home with their child for longer than a damn week, mandatory healthcare coverage paid by employers, employers no longer being able to just fire you for no damn reason because of the stupid at will policies, better yet just healthcare for all period… Putting term limits on the supreme court justices and us being able to do something about homelessness like mandatory basic housing, mental health services, etc etc. The USA is a dystopian capitalist hellscape and it's only getting worse. You have boomers mainly and the religious right/conservatives who want to keep us where we are and make things even worse, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Marshall Islands should either be made full states with all state benefits, or…
Soooo having more than one job…?
I absolutely cannot stand how outlets like these continue to try and come up with absurd names for things that have been happening for YEARS so they can act like it's some new outrageous thing the youth are doing. Like no shit people don't want to work multiple jobs so they can simply live. How the fuck do you expect us to live on $15/hour when apartment cost more than $1000 per month and houses cost half a million or more.
Keeping your head down doesn’t work.
It took time but I finally accepted it. When it's work never do any more than you absolutely have to, not 1 second or effort more. Because the only reward for going the 'extra mile' is getting their ass to kiss. Backstabbed then they wash their hands of you immediately. This is the expectation. It's sad because I like helping people but not the sadistic, vindictive, harsh, and those who delight in abusing power. Suck it.
