There is a summer camp near where I live in California offering a position for an equestrian director. They are offering a salary range of $6k to $10k based on experience for 13 weeks over summer and while that sounds not horrible for a summer job they are asking for 6 days a week, 7 am to 10 pm with a lunch and dinner a half hour each. Food and lodging provided. I am not a mathematician but 90 hours a week over 13 weeks for the top range of their offered salary comes around to 7 dollars an hour BELOW minimum wage or 6.5 dollars below agriculture minimum wage. Am I missing something about this situation or is it as illegal and insane as it seems?
I think I might be in trouble at work
I was being honest in an anonymous, all-employee survey about how I feel about the company, work/life balance, etc. There were 10 questions that you could answer using 1-5 stars. I used mostly 2 or 3 stars. I didn’t think my comments would be sent to our team’s manager but my anonymous comments and everyone else’s on the team (5 people, not including the manger) were sent to the manager. It sounds like she’s been sniffing around to ask different members of the team how they’re feeling, if they’re overwhelmed, etc. to get through the anonymity. I think my responses were specific enough that she could narrow it down to me. I’m extremely concerned she and my direct manager will start to side eye me and may even demote me or want to me leave the company. Any support or advice would help xoxo
We work for nothing to line the pockets of the already Rich ,they would like nothing better than to have us wait on them hand and foot till we are mentally ill and used up, meanwhile we end up with NOTHING!!
CBS story on Wage Theft
Just curious, as it seems everyone around me is going through the same surprise of BOOM more duties you’re expected to do; even if you have to use all your time off. I even had people I don’t talk to regularly come out the blue telling me work is insane now. Anyone else notice this since the beginning of this month?
