Did my ex boss illegally steal thousands from me?

I’m not sure if this is the right sub to post this. I’m also not sure if what my ex boss did was illegal. But this sub seems to support employee rights so I thought maybe someone could give some info. So basically I’ve been a delivery driver at a local pizza place for the past about 8 years. It was owned by the same owner for the first 7 years and he sold it about one year ago. The way deliveries worked for about the first 6 years was every delivery had a delivery charge ($1, $2, $3 etc. depending how far it was). I was always told that as a driver I get to keep half the delivery charge and the owner keeps half to pay for driver insurance and things like that. Well shortly before the previous owner sold he was audited by the IRS. What they…

Jobs that are easiest to apply to

The ones that don’t make you attach your resume then have the nerve to demand you fill out the online application which asks the SAME damn information. I’m not getting paid to search for phone numbers from managers I worked for 5 years ago who likely don’t even remember me. What are some common stores/companies/organizations that are nationwide (U.S.) that just let you attach a resume and wait for a call back? Please and thank you. I know this is anti-work but it’s not quite an ideal world yet, and I still need a job at the moment. Thank you ️

I’m starting to question whether I should keep striving for these jobs that don’t pay well for a lifestyle that’s not very affordable. Perhaps there is an alternative way of life.

Scared to quit my toxic job

I’ve been working at my company for about three years now, and I’ve been an assistant manager for two years. This job has been extremely convenient for me as a college student because I have the ability to create my own schedule. Contrast to popular opinion, I actually enjoy working retail. I enjoy talking to customers, making sales, and general maintenance of the store. I am the youngest of four managers at my store, and I am also the newest. My boss and the other two managers have been working together for eight years. Because of this, they are a lot closer with each other than with me. This does not bother me because I am there to work, not to make friends. I consider myself a good employee. I have only called out once in three years. I cover shifts when I can. I am always on time. I…

Hard Choices-Off my chest

I’ve been laid off for 6 months now, and just turned down $170k job as a Recruiting Manager, because the company had a horrible interview and onboarding process and I don’t want my name attached to that kind of shitshow. They were recording all interviews on zoom and sharing them with internal employees not related to the direct hiring process. Sorry, but I have ethics and candidate experience as a top priority. You don’t need everyone to see the candidates on camera and I definitely don’t want my interviews recorded. They also changed the role halfway through the interview process and didn’t tell the woman who was to be my boss, so by the offer, she felt slighted and changed her vibe with me. I don’t blame her, but I don’t want to start a new job with my new boss already insecure with me. This was a really hard…

Should I give notice?

I’m considering a new job offer where I can get a good pay increase and way better benefits. Should I give notice to my current employer? They just fired a couple of co-workers without notice. Why should I give notice when leaving? Help me gain the courage and confidence to just walk away!
