I have a degree in accounting, but have been working in bank operations for most of my working time. I’ve been applying and putting my resume in for jobs in the area I’m relocating to but I’ve been getting declined left and right due to lack of experience, and these are more entry level accounting/audit jobs. I know everything. I know how everything works. I know how to use quickbooks. I’m great using excel. Can do financial statements. I can do all of these. Its honestly just data entry. I just have not officially worked for a business in accounting. I can’t get experience if no one will hire me. At this point, I’m tired of trying to explain to the few who’ve taken the time to actually talk to me. I think I’m just gonna lie.

Question: what about pay omisson
I asked my boss what my hourly rate will be. When he answered the value was (unbeknownst to me) the hourly rate was the OT rate and not the based hourly rate (I found out later). I was wondering what do you all think of that? How would you handle this situation/what would you do? Thanks.
All of your posts reflect a true, weary and bleak vision of career life, which I relate to on an unprecedented level. They're so bleak however, that I would LOVE to hear a story of someone's employer doing something that isn't totally selfish, corrupt, and inhuman. If you have any good stories of people you worked with, whether employers or co-workers, I would love to hear them, so we can remember that in this sea of bullshit there exists good people that we can aspire to be like.
You've got to be joking.
U.S. Government Database for Layoffs
Found an article about a Tik Tok that has information on a government database that houses layoff notices from employers with more than 50 employees. https://www.dailydot.com/irl/layoffs-warn-act-psa/
Took me 10 years to get to 4 weeks of vacation, but that job literally destroyed my health. Finally quit it, but not about to spend another decade waiting for employer to bless me, with what’s a bare minimum for time off in most western countries
I’ve had 2 sick days off so far. When I returned to work I was told to complete a sickness form . This couldn’t by completed by myself though , another co worker had to ask me the questions that were on the form and fill them in for me. This form asked a few questions such as why was I sick , what were my symptoms , did I see a doctor , did I take anything to treat it , etc bla bla . Idk if I’m reading into this sub too much , but I thought the questions were kinda not right for a co worker to be asking me Also i heard bosses aren’t allowed to ask what your symptoms are / why you are sick either ? Can someone confirm this pls I kinda felt annoyed af and like I was under some sort of…
Genuinely curious. My phone and email get blown up by these types and nothing ever seems to come of it.
Feel free to remove this if it doesn't fit, obligatory “I'm on mobile so I apologize for formatting” preamble. TL;DR at the bottom and I'm sorry for being so long winded. I'm just out of hope. To give a little bit of information about myself, I found out fairly recently ( within the last 6 months) that I have an incurable autoimmune disease. I also have a couple other illnesses, and basically my body has been destroying itself for over 20 years. I've had tests and it is impacting my kidneys, I'm starting medication because after a long wait I did get to see a specialist about a week ago. All of this to say that unfortunately with my illness I do need accommodation when it comes to work. Ideally I need to work from home because I have sensitivity to sunlight that can cause me to feel very sick,…
