Going to go on a bit of a ramble here as need to vent. I've worked at my current company for nearly 15 years. In that time I've worked my way up into a management position and have worked in various different admin departments. The company's value has gone up by over 20 times since I started. There's been around 20-30 key members of staff including me largely responsible for that – I worked through Covid when many others were furloughed and I've spent many evenings and weekends doing unpaid overtime. The thing is I never really minded as I largely appreciated and was supported by my fellow colleagues and managers who often did the same. I work part time at a health and wellness clinic and our group chat is driving me fucking nuts. One of the bosses is in there plus 6 receptionists. The (hands off) boss will text us about errors or billing mistakes or chasing patients for no show fees and how it all needs to be better when most of us aren't working at that time. I wake up in the morning (I work late) to dozens of texts about mistakes and critiques and issues and it makes me feel like this shitty part time job is on my mind 24/7. I'm also a full time freelance journalist / content writer so I don't have time for this shit. I have maybe about 4 hours of work to be done today, but I have to stay at the office for 8 hours. I cannot fucking stand working full time, but I need the money. I hate living in this society where we just work and work and work until we die. Even on days where we don’t have 8 hours worth of work to do. I can barely do 40 hours so I have no clue how some people do more than that. Maybe I’m just not meant to be part of this society at all. I want to run free and be a fucking human, not a robot. The fact that there’s people out there who randomly become rich, are born rich, or become rich from something low-effort makes me want to scream and cry.
