I was informed yesterday that our California office is closing June 30th from the CEO and VP of HR. My boss asked if we were going to get a severance and/or retention bonus if we stayed till June 30th to help with the transition of work. My CEO said “no, you guys have no incentive to stay.” What I'm confused about is who is going to handle all the office closing matter? Will they hire a third party vendor? Are they sending someone from HQ (East coast) to take care of everything? I am the administrative manager for this branch. I handle everything IT and office related. We have about 60 cubicles (60 company desktops, 60 Cisco phones), 15 manager offices (15 company laptops, 15 Cisco phones), 3 conference rooms (3 company VC systems), server room (switches, power distribution, UPS, etc.). This doesn't even include all the office furniture…

Is it just me or does Larry Summers have one of the most punchable faces of our time?
Got this response from the recruiter after a phone interview with a company. I didn’t mention salary or raises or anything during a phone interview and I asked lots of questions that only pertained to the work itself. Do they expect people to work for free? If money isnt important, what else are they offering? Maybe they should give me part ownership so I have a vested interest in the company. Tell me you have a toxic work culture that takes advantage of its employees without telling me. If they’re so concerned about “longevity”, maybe they should compensate their employees at a competitive rate so they can retain them. I wasn’t even going to accept this job since I work fully remote now and despite advertising this position as Hybrid, they’ll want me in the office 5 days a week with an 8a – 5p schedule – NO THANKS!

It seems that everywhere I go I get demoted or have to quit because people misunderstand my personality or they say I didn't do enough of this or that. I guess I have to be homeless then
i started working at this place in february, my mom got sick a few days after i started working there and had to be rushed to the hospital, turns out she needs open heart surgery. the other day the manager calls me over and gives me a warning due to the amount ive called out (even tho i dont even think its alot due to the circumstances ive been through) and also shes been in the hospital for a month? im her power of attorney so i also need to be there. im a delivery driver with the company , i dont think they have family medical leave because its a small company. i just find it infuriating because they say how much they understand and are so sorry but then why are you giving me a warning? any normal job would consider me taking a leave but no, they…
Work was workable when people worked in agriculture, or in production. Whatever you did, you didn't have to take abuse from the public. You just went to work, did what you were told to do, and you went back home. Nothing stressful or dangerous. The service industry is what's wrong with today's economy. People have no other job opportunities, so they're forced to take retail jobs and suffer from violence from Karens.
