Pretty much the title. Just had performance review. Discussed how i am working insanely long hours (60-70 a week) for one salary which is labeled exempt so i get no overtime. My boss only allows 1 week vacation a year. We have to be on site 7-3 no matter what Mon-Fri even if we worked till 10 pm the night before. Also we are expected to be on call 24-7. I was forced in Christmas and Christmas eve without any extra time. I had to use a sick day to get some rest because i was on 11 days straight at that point. When i bring it up and how its an issue for me. My bosses response “we are professionals and thats what is expected of us” I’m putting my 2 weeks Monday so i at least have insurance through April. I hate this country so so so much.
Boss gets a new Porsche
He parks at the front of the office so everyone can see it. Walks inside and calls a department meeting. We gather in the conference room and he opens the windows. Boss: You see my new Porsche? This is what hard work can get you! When you go above and beyond instead of doing the bare minimum. So if all of you work real hard and don’t call in sick… I can buy a another one! My high school son doesn’t like his Mercedes. Back to work! TLDR: Just a shitpost. Fake story hoping for a little levity
give it to me straight
i am a cook working 6a-2:30pm M-F in a hotel kitchen. my schedule randomly said 8a-4:30pm this week. I assumed it was a mistake and have been coming in like normal. I didn't bring it up with my Exec Chef because he's hard to talk to and I figured he would confront me if he had a reason to want me there at 8. Today, a different Chef comes up to me and informs me the only full-time (FT) sanitation worker is quitting, and they want me to take over his job of cleaning and restocking the break room with food every day. He said I'm “good with sustainability” and a “people person” and partly why I was chosen . He also said the buffet I work isn't busy enough for the two FT's and a temp to work it all day (current staff) so this extra task shouldn't impact…
