I can't go into details but one day my friend found out he was fired for not coming into work because he had to rush his family to the ER. As his family were fighting for their lives his boss called to see that was going on and he told his boss what happened. His boss was livid and rehired him on the spot and he fired the manager who reacted by trying attack the owner and his wife who also happens to be the idiot's parents. So fast forward a few months my buddy has good job with more money while the asshole manager is in jail karma.

Employee resignation letter today
Got laid off during the pandemic. Was finally able to find work via a temp agency; each assignment indicated that they would hire me permanently. Never happened; I was always let go after a few weeks or months. I want permanent work, but no matter how many times or places I apply to, it’s either a rejection letter or no response at all. So I’m stuck drifting from one job to another. No paid days off: no work, no money to live. No benefits. But everyone is hiring, right? I doubt it.
I worked for 5 years in a high stress job, I was top of my game, almost management for £14 per hour. I left due to the toxic work environment and now work at a basic entry level job for £2 less an hour. It’s boring. There is no management, no extra training provided, you can basically come and go as you please and I’m only allowed to take my over time “in lieu” (as in I don’t get paid for it). I also have to pay for my parking which was not mentioned at the interview. I’ve worked here for a year. It’s an easy job but sometimes frustrating as we over run a lot. Today I had an interview for a position similar to the one before..but all I could think about was how stressed, depressed and anxious I was before. Would I be an idiot for not…
Capitalism and America
If our society is rooted in consumerism and requires warm bodies to keep the wheel turning, how can our society continue to exist if people lack the $$ to consume due to paltry wages, and aren't having kids due to cost? I'm sure people will answer the consumerism part with credit cards and labor needs with Immigration / AI. However, there has to be a limit right? Rent keeps rising, wages remain stagnant, credit lines get maxed, eventually consumption will grind to a halt, right? How does the machine continue to work? or at least how does it continue to generate exorbitant profit for the owning class? EDIT: wouldn't it be better for the owner class to pay higher wages so the masses can consume more while also remaining appeased?
Just a rant/vent
Just got off the phone with a county recruiter about a job I had applied to about the same time I had submitted and interviewed for a job with their sister division. Was told to come in Monday at 8am for the interview without asking if I could. Told her I had to work and couldnt take the day off on such short notice but I would be more than happy to have the interview through zoom or any platform they used. Got attitude in return and some snarky remark about how “we like to see our prospects in person to get a “feel for their commitment and values.” Admittedly got annoyed and said I'd be more than happy to send her an invoice for the time, resources and loss of pay and she replied “that's not how we do things.” Told her thank you for the consideration and ended…
