LOTR quotes
re-watching these before they leave netflix this month and man Frodo's flashback soliloquy hits home “I wish it need not have happened in my time,” said Frodo. “So do I,” said Gandalf, “and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” Go out there and DO SOMETHING
Do I have a legitimate concern?
I am a salaried manager exempt in my company. If any of you out there have a company that uses Kronos Workforce Management, you remember that the system was hacked a little while back. Prior to the crash of WFM, I was scheduled for 9hr shifts, with an hour unpaid UNINTERRUPTED lunch (which rarely ever happened). After the crash and the system coming back up we were no longer scheduled those 9hra, instead in the computer system we are now only scheduled 8hrs. However, on paper schedules, we are still scheduled 9hrs and expected to stay…for example, on the computer I'm scheduled 7-3, but on paper I'm scheduled 7-4 and expected to stay till 4 because we are still supposed to have an hour unpaid lunch which, again, never ever actually happens. I'm getting tired of it and just want to leave at the end of my computer scheduled shift.…
i'm work in massachusetts and during a massive winter storm where we were dealing with negative degree and single digit temperatures, our heat kicked the bucket. this was beginning of january. since then our building temperature dropped to 42 degrees. we were all huddled in the back office around a space heater 99% of the time we were working. we wore coats, hats and gloves to work. customers called corporate complaining about severely cold temperatures. several of us got severely ill. i got a severe sinus infection, so did two other coworkers, one coworker of mine already has terrible health conditions and could not work. our heat was finally fixed as of march 3. so over two months without heat. we heard rumors of our corporate paying us hazard pay of $100 but i think we deserve more. what can we do?
Hello, the the title basically says it all. I’ve spent time at this company and though I’ve learned and grown, my manager has been abysmal to deal with. Many within the company have recognized him to be this way so I’m not the only one. Very disrespectful, passive aggressive and demeaning. I’ve spent nearly three years in the role and have been the longest one to stay since he became head of the department (10 years). I plan on making a pivot into tech once I’m certified and when I’m ready to leave I almost feel inclined to leave without courtesy notice. My current role isn’t incredibly difficult but it would take someone a few months to become acclimated to the working environment as well as understanding all of the nuances of the role. That being said, the department would be in shambles for a good bit if I left…
Work place anxiety advice
Hi all, no matter what job I do I always have work place anxiety. It’s so crippling sometimes. I’m in a company that actually is great, it’s an agency and I love my team. However, the work I do requires me to be on top of shoots with clients and providing them with content deliverables. No matter what I do, I still manage to overthink and worry. I have been doing therapy and it helps to some extent but the truth is, even after work I’m unable to switch off. I’m a people pleaser so any time I come home I’m worried I’ve had an email where I’ve done something wrong or a client isn’t happy with the work (which always is the case and clients demand more). Any advice, how did you finally find a way to just not give a fk and just carry on? Thanks
