Everyone into the Firing Line
Job App asks my sexual orientation
Are they even allowed to ask this? I know it says optional, but it seems strange that they would even ask…
Hi. I'm upset that I've been applying to places since 2021and only gotten 2 interviews. 2. I'm 25, will have an associate's in the spring (once they give me the damn diploma, I've done all their stupid requirements but have to wait until the semester is over because I can get fucked, I guess). I've worked a retail job for a few months, it was initially a seasonal position but they kept me on as a keyholder, until a new DM came in and eliminated my job, (company went bankrupt soon after lol), didn't have a job for a year, got a job working food service but also event setup and inventory reconciliation for about a year until the pandemic hit and never heard from them again and didn't care to reach out, and had a job as an “independent contractor” for a bridal/prom place for like. a month and…
Replaced me with 3.
Just got notice of my last paycheck from my severance. I was “quietly fired” last summer from a job of 22 years. Out of curiosity I checked their website only to find they were looking for 2 managers to run the programs I had developed in addition to the job I had actually been paid to do. Years ago when I had asked for a title change, as my job no longer resembled that of my peers, a supervisor told me “there is no reward for competency.”
Experiences with Upwork
Hi! I recently quit my copywriting job because my boss constantly belittled me, never showed up when my team needed him, took weeks to get any reviews back to me, and was constantly passive aggressive. I was filled to the brim with anxiety every day and eventually it started to spill over and I couldn’t take it any more. Employees should never have to feel inferior, and I know my worth! Anyways, I’m looking for freelance work now. I signed up for Upwork, but I’m not sure realistically how much success people have on there? Or if I should try Fiverr instead? Let me know your experiences!
I think they work like 8-12, go home and chill for like 3 hours, then go back to work for a few hours in the evening. Not 100% on those time frames but its something like that.
I’m 24F and I’m a shift lead at a retail pharmacy and I currently make $17/hr. This is minimum for my position and I have been working here for two years. (Minimum pay just went up so that was considered my “raise”) I’m bilingual as well as licensed to work in the pharmacy as a tech too. Someone new has been hired as only a tech in the pharmacy, however they’re a lot older me and have worked in the medical field before+they have degrees as I do not. They are neither bilingual nor in a “manager” position- (shift leads are technically managers in my place of work.) yet they get paid a dollar more than me- for the exact same thing I do+ I do more. Is this reasonable to be upset about or is this normal since he actually has a degree? I’m not sure how to feel.
