Fake job openings explain a lot
I just wanted to share this. It's been almost a year now. Thankfully she has found employment that pays her more… But she's gutted, and nowhere near as happy. A charitable organization opened a small office in the city. She, being involved with them for many years, was offered a full-time job as office manager. She was over the moon. Her original contract said she would be employed with them for life. She loved her job and loved who she worked for. It was very fulfilling. She lead classes teaching various self-help/compassion topics to teachers, police officers, and other groups. During the Pandemic, they kept the office open for her to keep working and despite the “loss of donations”, kept her employed. As restrictions eased up things began to ramp up again and it was business as usual. Until, of course, my wife realized it had been about 5+ years…
Fuck the 1% , be more like the French
Why we can’t have nice things
7 years of university training/education – that they have to pay for (min £10k a year) £24-28k starting salary, but rents of £1500pm/mortgage at 1200 if you're lucky. Energy is £4-600pm. Food shop minimum of £100pw, with many with no time to shop so have to rely on hospital food prices. https://preview.redd.it/lj5mbabo1ipa1.png?width=759&format=png&auto=webp&v=enabled&s=e2906dfb04c8ce084da5dec446c8d01ffdaf2255
#WeShowedUp!
A lot of complaints here about employers, but I want to call out the behavior of customers. Staffing is low at so many places for so many reasons making giving quality service to customers difficult. We are pressured to move fasters and faster with less and less. So when entitled, overbearing, rude, disrespectful and impatient customers take their frustrations out on us, it makes the job less and less worth while. Don't get mad at us. #WeShowedUp! Continue with the poor behavior and we won't.
This has been going on for months, coz I'm a p to bring is up, but I'm fed up with it. They have minimal communication , say they will take 1h break then disappear for 3 hours . If he is unhappy with his job I don't think I am to be punished. My manager does not pay attention although she says she does. I have brought this up very mildly, and told her “Hey all of the workload is being assigned to me, can you please check” she brought some lame reasons. Please don't tell me to get down to his level, I already am doing “My anti-work” exercises, for example instead of 1 hour, I go to break 1 hour and 15 minutes. But really I don't want to lose my job. This coworker also stalks me, and randomly gets online during later shifts where I work alone.
