So here's a story for you. I won't name names but I'll let you connect the dots. There's a long running sports highlight show with a very distinctive theme. 3 music notes, repeated twice. Black and red graphics. Anyways, 10 video editors were brought into a meeting and were told they were going to be laid off. They were handed papers and escorted out. The next day a new system was put in place by the corporation. A new software using….'AI' was implemented. Put in time codes to a spreadsheet like interface, hit okay and wait. There's your highlight package for Sportscen, uh I mean long running sports highlight show. Workers rightfully got upset and complained. 'You can't replace us with AI editors' Management's response in not so many words was 'the program isn't actually editing anything'. Pardon me? It's by letter and spirit of the law, the actual definition…
On MULTIPLE occasions, here in the Chicago area, I have gone to, had, interviews, where, I later found out that management decided they were not gonna hire afterwards… What?! Like, I wasted my time on this bs? Just today, on International Women's Day, I got a message from an interviewer saying oops, we don't actually need anyone. Bye!! Like, really? I want a job. I want to be respected. I don't want to Conanconstantly have my point proven that dumb ideas lead to wasteful consequences. That, after all the times I called out a supervisor, telling them not to do something, they get in trouble with their bosses for doing it anyways and end up making my job harder… I want things done right the first time. That, if I found an easier way to do it, it's because I had to do the hard mental math while simultaneously doing…

Don't tell me 'Pay day is Xday' when, 90% of the time, I don't get it before 9:30pm. I just wanted to take MY money and do something for myself on my day off, but no. I get to sit around as my pay slips into being officially 24hrs late, still not received as I type this the following day. No reply from managers. If I was this late for work, I'd be fucking fired but I guess they can be as late as they want with no repercussions, and I get to eat the potential cost of late fees
How illegal is this? QC, Canada
Hello labor experts of r/antiwork! I applied to a job on Indeed and was contacted by the owner of the company to discuss details and set up a paid working interview. I would be helping a driver deliver CostCo items such as fridges, TVs, a sectional couch, etc. for a set daily pay. We arranged to do it this Tuesday at 7am and he gave me an address. It was a great day that finished up at about 4:30 and I met with the owner afterwards. I told him my initial thoughts, he asked for my CashApp/Venmo to get me paid for the day so I sent him my CashApp (Yes, it was a huge red flag, but I was pretty sold that he was a legitimate contractor so didn't think much of it). He he wanted me to call him the next day to ask any questions I might…
Wife accepted a much lower paying position within the company she works at with the understanding that she would eventually get commission along with her hourly pay, basically trying to sacrifice financially for long term higher earning. (coworker who was hired to said position with her was informed the exact same thing as well) but it turns out that the employer withheld information regarding the commission and pay situation which has obviously resulted in financial loss for us that would not have taken place if she was informed correctly about the pay. Are there any laws against this, what can we do about this situation?
