Someone I know is in a dead end job and is thinking of quitting because they feels it’s gotten to the point that it’s damaging their mental health. We were discussing best way to explain the gap to future potential employers and the easiest way is just to say the position was eliminated vs having to explain the whole situation. Not sure if that’s something the old company might divulge to new company though if a reference check is ever done. (Note: this is the U.S. so things like hipaa rules apply)

Even if you are the most productive employee in your workplace you will still get screwed over if the boss doesn't like you. I personally just find it funny that she had no complaints about me until after I made it known I disagreed with her firing the most productive and longstanding employee there. So I have two coworkers that make homophobic remarks at the desk (where, according to our boss we are supposed to keep our conversations “5 year old appropriate” because we are a library) and, when they laughed at me when I asked them to stop I decided to stop talking to them for anything that wasn't work related. Apparently this has made me “standoffish” and created a hostile environment. I do find it funny that these complaints only came about after I expressed disagreement with one of my boss's decisions (which happened at the end of…

People want to work. Hell, they NEED to work. But nobody wants to work for your garbage wages.
Agency refusing to pay me
I’m in this weird situation where I signed up to be a contractor through my LLC. There is a middleman involved that takes a cut, and then the company itself that needed the contractor. I left within a few days because it was a sweatshop and I saw people being treated terribly. I submitted my hours on Day 5 and told them I’m resigning. This week I found out that I will not be getting paid for my hours. Why? Because in the contract I signed it said “middleman will not remit payment that is not approved by company”. Since the mofos at the company arent approving it, theyre not going to remit payment. Another concerning factor is a clause (they havent pulled this up yet), that says if I dont give 10 days notice I have to pay middleman 10 days worth of wages to make up for damages.…
Like how did humans at one point in time just not just call it quits
I don't really give a flying flapperjack what anyone says but yes, I did out of anger but due to the disrespect from the recruiter. Really? After all the time and effort and multiple emails to ask you about how the process is going etc for the past 2 months and you decide to ghost me? Especially when you're such a big advocate to anti ghosting or anti terrible job applying experience. Eat dirt a hole.
I have a meeting with my boss next week to discuss my salary increase for this year. This is something I've always struggled with and almost always just accepted whatever I've been offered. However, this year I think I deserve more because our team has experienced a ton of turnover and I've taken on a lot more responsibility. I found this article with some tips to approaching the negotiations, but I don't know if this would work for employees as well: https://brightmatterhr.com/knowledge-centre/blogs/a-simplified-approach-to-negotiating-salary/ What have you done in the past to prepare for these kinds of meetings?
