I have their quarterly report right here… it’s xxxyyyzzz.” Manager: “…Just ask Accounting for the number.” Me: “…But I already have it here. I set up the system so we see it every month.” Manager: “Why can’t you just ask them for the number?” Me: “Okay. Hi Accounting, can I have your quarterly revenue projection?” Accounting: “We upload that data into your system like you ask. Why can’t you look it up yourself?” Me: “…Sorry.”

Last month, I hastily accepted a job offer under what turned out to be false pretenses. Job ad listed salary as $55-60k. Verbal offer of $23/hour, work hours 7:30am-5pm with 1 hour lunch plus two 15-min breaks. Once on-site, I was told 30 minute lunch break was automatically deducted from pay and implied that taking the break was “optional”. It was also implied that the working hours, after training, would be 6am-6pm. Then I came across a section of the employee handbook that stated any employee caught discussing wages/salary would be terminated. Which is very illegal in IL, where I’m at. I quit after a week. When a player leaves on maternity they stop scoring points and getting rebounds thus lowering their season and career totals and averages. This in turn causes these players to make less money on contracts and endorsements and lowers their chance to be hall of famers thus lowing future earnings. The WNBA should give players on maternity leave the average number of points and rebounds they should have gotten if they had played thus not penalizing them for giving birth. This will eliminate the illegal “stats gap”. #internationalwomensday
