Hi, I am looking for guidance on what to do in this situation…I was assaulted in the workplace two nights ago by an aggressive employee (struck me in the side of the neck/jaw) because he thought I said something to him (I didn't), and it appears as if the business is not going to terminate this person although they are fully aware of the situation and there were two witnesses. This is a family run business and this person is part of their family. There is no HR department or corporate or anything like that. Its a mom and pop operation. I am unwilling to return to work to put myself in this position again although they would still like to retain me as an employee. I am quite sure this is illegal in some way by required workplace standards if they refuse to terminate this person. I did contact…
It costs $95k for me to get by in the small, remote resort town I live in and it’s a requirement for me to go into the office located here. Why do companies think that $55k before taxes is appropriate or even close to a livable rate? My mortgage is 4k/month in the most affordable neighborhood within driving distance to my office. I work at a ski resort and we’ve been dealing with nonstop snow the past two weeks, so we’ve been working a ton to keep the place running. Last week, on hour seven of my ten hour shift, I took a small breather since I didn’t have time to take my half hour lunch that day from the crazy amount of work we had to do after a particularly bad storm and was legitimately exhausted from all the shoveling. A guy from a different department who “Never takes breaks” saw me and chastised me for not working. The first time I told him about how breaks are required in our state, and then kind of ignored it after. This morning, he again catches me on the one second I wasn’t explicitly working (but seemed to ignore me when I was breaking my ass five minutes earlier) and this time I…
i’m 23 and i work as an accountant in a big secure building. my boss made it my responsibility to get snack and drink deliveries from costco up to our suite. since i’m literally 100 lbs and going through the building dock is such a hassle, my dad and my brother wanted to help by doing a costco run with me over the weekend and we delivered $700 worth of items up to my office. it took about 4 hours and it was very labor intensive. it should be enough to last the office a month and i saved the company $200 since costco upcharges every product when they deliver themselves when i submitted my receipt for reimbursement, i also added a mileage expense for 37 miles (we took 2 cars to fit everything) and it was like $22. since i usually approve expense requests, i’ve noticed our salespeople who…
