I turned in my server’s apron this morning. It was getting to be too much. I’m 30 weeks pregnant now and for the last two months I’ve had to endure almost all of my coworkers and one manager making comments about my pregnancy or how fast I’m going and they’ve complained to my managers, saying “I don’t feel comfortable working with her because she’s pregnant and she’s got health problems and it makes me nervous to be around her.” Or the comments made directly to my face like “I can’t depend on you to go get the biscuits fast enough for me and I can run circles around you,” and other servers taking my tables because ”You didn’t get to them quick enough,” and the managers cutting my hours and only giving me two tables in my section. I have had my hours cut from five days a week, 6-7…
I joined this sub when I hated my job, I was there for 3 years in healthcare starting as an emergency personell when the world was crashing down and then ended up just getting sucked into staying. I was depressed, angry, and literally hated everything about the US healthcare system. Recently started a job at a startup. My first “corporate” job and it's leaps and bounds better. I am probably still anti work but I went on a trip last week. My boss didn't make me feel bad about requesting time off. He actually gives of 5 PTO every quarter to make sure we don't burn out. I am not in a position anymore where me being present is mandatory, I can take a vacation if I need to. No one is going to die or there are no issues if I call out due to being short staffed. He…
Salary 8AM-5PM no extra bullshit.
So I’m a manager over the intermodal dept. at a tire business. My scheduled hours are 8-5 my boss came at me because he’s been leaving early (3-4) to where I have to stay and close up staying until 6-6:30. So last week I started to come in at 9. This morning his bitchass pulls me in the office brings up the fact that I am salary and says “your scheduled hours are 8-5.” I retorted “Ok Allen 8-5 is 8-5, if I come in at 8 I will leave at 5 no exceptions. You understand this correct?” He had a dumbass look on his face per usual and said “well sometimes….” I cut him off and said “uh uh uh 8-5 means 8-5, you want to hold me to that, then I will also hold you to it…. I hope you didn’t get to used to leaving at 3…
I’m just so sick of it all!
I currently work in a daycare as a teacher. for context, I was never properly informed of a call in policy beyond the sentence of “if you're sick or throwing up, don't come in. don't get the kids sick” when I started employment. since July of 2022, I'd been having a lot of digestive issues and was throwing up often. I'd only call in when I was actively throwing up before my shift, never if it was the night before (like I'm supposed to). my boss always seemed so understanding and kind about it. one day he tells me I'm using a lot of my “bank hours” and to be careful. apparently I only have so many hours in a year that I can call in. I explain I'm having medical issues that I'm trying to get a doctor's appointment for, as I currently don't have a gp. he says…
