I have some chronic health conditions my employer knew about when I started there. They told me they could work with a flexible schedule as long as I made up my hours and I have been doing that. I found out yesterday I’m going to need hip surgery in a few weeks. I pushed the surgery out to give them a bit of notice. I then immediately informed my supervisors this morning and within a few hours one of them called me in her office and fired me. She told me that it was because I was not a good fit and “aggressive enough” for the position (legal assistant) but I had been receiving nothing but positive feedback on my work and it’s real coincidental they decided to do this within hours of knowing I needed surgery. I gave up working in healthcare because my family strongly felt I needed…

‘Too big to fail’ wasn’t a suggestion If the world financial system collapses, there will be no electricity or food in the grocery stores. We will live in metal shacks, eat dandelion soup, and burn money for warmth like the Great Depression I’m an anarchist, I want the end of capitalism and the apocalypse. I think dying of starvation is preferable to comfy slavery But do you actually know what ‘letting the banks fail’ really means Total financial collapse, the end of the modern world as we know it.

I work for a pretty popular convenience store but in recent years its gone through a lot of changes. Right now they are having managers go around and write people up for every little thing they mess up on with our extremely strict uniform policy with the open intention of firing off the undesirables we had to hire during covid. We hired a lot of people they apperently want rid of and they are using apearance policy to cut them out. On top of that they are integrating amazons camera technology into all of our stores to keep a closer eye on us and the customers, some serious equipment that uses AI to watch people from the secont they enter. They intend to use it to prevent theft, increase sales by observing customers patterns and also make sure employees are staying active on the job. “Odd” behavior will be flagged…
Currently just in the research phase after a toxic experience at my first post grad role. The most important things to measure about a company are their retention rates, promotion rates, raise rates etc. broken down by not only the company but the dept, but I don’t know where to get that data other than from people self-reporting, and even then there is no guarantee the numbers will be accurate. What do you guys think of this? What else would you like to see on a platform like this? Obv there are restrictions due to false claims or legal issues or whatever, but I feel Glassdoor does not have enough detail abt the other things listed above
According to the Federal Reserve, the total wealth of the United States was estimated at $135.1 trillion in 2020. After removing the value attributed to residential real estate, the estimated total net worth per person over 18 years of age is about $434,117.65. (Source: Federal Reserve) Additionally, we estimated the total income generated by citizens and companies in the US, which was about $18.6 trillion in 2020. After removing income generated from residential property ownership and not double-counting business income paid out in wages, the estimated total income per person over 18 years of age is about $60,057.50 per year or $5,004.79 per month. (Source: US Bureau of Economic Analysis) Based on these estimates, we hypothesized that if all resources were divided equally based on needs, each adult in the US could have a net worth of about $400,000, an income of about $3,000 per month, and free housing.
