So I figure this might be a good place for this since some who might be looking at jumping jobs will obviously use job sites to find their next job. Long story short, I have a given disability that is statistically highly discriminated against, I've dealt with serious workplace harassment, and so on. So a few years back I've given up and stopped applying completely. When I was, I was applying for thousands of jobs per year. Because of this, I ended up using almost any job site I could. More recently, lastpass had a breach and this could put any passwords stored with them during that time at risk. After jumping to a new system I started changing the passwords 1 at a time. (I honestly didn't realize how desperate I was before I gave up until I found I had accounts on several HUNDRED job sites. Some gone…

I put in a vacation notice the other day and I saw an email that says manager denied paid time off request. I put this notice in for a vacation that my whole family included extended family is going on. Took off mon-fri and that mon again because we’ll be flying back late night Sunday. Manager has been unavailable all morning. I’ll be going to him this afternoon to see what the issue is with my requested PTO. I don’t understand, even if the issue is someone else taking a vacation at that time I’m still giving many months notice for him to figure out that week. I plan on going either way because this is the last time my grandparents are going to be-able to go. Am I wrong for this? Any advice/recommendations?
A question for the HR peoples.
Short: Is it possible (or advisable?) to negotiate your exit from a company? Long: The company I work for has been downsizing a bit. From what I understand, the people that they let go are often offered a severance package. Is it possible that if I went to HR with an exit plan (reasonable severance and a letter of recommendation) they’d take it and let me frolic off into the sunset? What would be a professional way to approach that situation? Or would it be better to talk to the GM or owner of the company instead? Thanks for any feedback.
I use my personal laptop and get a monthly device reimbursement. Is it legal for my employer to ask me to install productivity monitoring software?
Hell yeah brother keep up the hustle!
Sometimes it takes hours just to turn on. Boss refuses to replace it so I just sit around on my phone and online orders do not get processed for days sometimes. He's known about the problem for years at this point and nothing has been done. I've been quiet quit for years lol.
How ignorant can they get? If someone had full stack development skills, why the hell would they be writing instead of doing software development—which requires intensive, long-term study? “Nah, I’ll just write about it.” Dream on, and lower your standards once you get a reality check. No developer or cyber ops specialist wants to work as a writer for a tech company. Accept the fact the only serious candidates you’re going to get are writers with an interest in the field. Nurture their desire to learn more and you’ve got yourself a loyal employee. You’re doing it ass backwards.
Don’t go to HR
I recently completed the mandatory annual HR training which said to bring up issues of harassment with HR. Early the next week, my boss was so rude to me I experienced a panic attack. So I scheduled a meeting with HR. HR fired me. It's become impossible to negotiate with humans.
