I took the job that lied to me about my salary. It was supposed to be $17hr but I’m making $11hr. Only reason I took it was because I’ve ran out of savings and my mortgage payment isn’t going to wait for me to find a better job. Hopefully I’m not there for to long…

So I live in southern California but more in the inland empire side of so cal but I'm originally from orange county. Most of what I see happening is the kid's of baby boomers who were born and raised in orange county (very high cost of living location) either end up moving entirely out of state or move towards inland empire where cost of living is cheaper….but now even inland empire is starting to get expensive so now people are moving to the high desert (victorville, palmdale, barstow etc.). If you are low-wage worker commuting from Victorville to Newport beach for example isn't really realistic. Probably a 4 hour commuting one way during rush hour. We are already seeing impacts of demographics shifting where school enrollment declining in Orange County simply because young families aren't moving there. Instead people move to inland empire and beyond if they want to start…
I was reading an article about how the videogame corporation Blizzard isn't living up to its company values. I've worked for over 20 years in the private sector and I don't recall a single company acting according to their stated values. They recycle them in their communications but when you look at their actions, they'll still throw anyone under the bus in search of profits for those who own but don't actually work.
I sent my coworkers screenshots. They have been told there is no money for raises. Enjoy, fuckers.
So, yeah. Let’s call the business: Generic Cafe. Let’s call the owner: Carol. I interview for a position that I am 100% qualified for. The interview goes great, Carol is smiling and laughing, she takes down my availability. She asks how I’d create more business and more income streams for the cafe. She writes down my ideas and says, “wow, those are things I hadn’t thought of before.” We talk about the job, the role, the place etc. Carol states she wants to push “certain people” out of the market with pricing and how she’s not allowing people to take tables for only a $4 cappuccino. This rubs me the wrong way but I continue to listen. She talks about how important honesty from her staff is to her. She says how wonderful it was to meet me and, “I’ll call you on Tuesday to discuss training and the next…
I can’t with my boss dude.
Great reset
Today I curved CVS
This morning I had a “pre screening interview” for a customer service rep position with CVS. Specs are $17.50/hr, Mon-Fri, 8am-6pm. I asked, “Are the hours posted correct?” .. she replied “Yes.” I responded, “Ah, so 9-10 hour shifts? I’m looking for a more optimal work/life balance. For example – 8 hour shifts with 30 minutes for lunch. I’ll have to pass. Thank you.” How insane are these people?!
I am overqualified even for entry-level positions. https://preview.redd.it/nr03l9e6gcma1.png?width=333&format=png&auto=webp&v=enabled&s=0260078740fbb9d3145a75e96ff61b788a5abe87
