Dealt with a Manager who wanted to write me up on my day off – quit immediately.

I recently quit a cook position at the local pizza hut. The pay wasn't great, but I liked the drivers and we had a decent enough comradery. The manager was the problem. She wouldn't step up to help anyone, not to cut a pizza, not to fry wings, not even to help ring someone up, and certainly not to help the only cook (me) when they were 15 orders behind and drowning in the weeds. No, she would rather sit in the office and watch NCIS or sleep, when everyone else is busting ass. Yesterday was a day off for me. I get a text at about 5.30 local time, with one word: “ETA?” I ignore it. Maybe she meant to send it to someone else. 7.30 hits. “You're getting a write up for today. You need to have (training videos) done before you clock in this week.” I'm fucking…

The generalized rape of human activity.

Wage labor is the generalized rape of human activity, the dehumanization of the worker, whose activity consists only in adopting the positions that make money happy. Genealogy of the Money-God exhibits every moment of this rape.

Written up for two days of absence.

The title is the bulk of it. I have severe depression/anxiety and make no secret of it, I speak openly about it often. I’ve never been able to hold a job more than 4-6 months tops because of this, because of stringent attendance policies. I was optimistic getting the job six months ago (aka, this is my longest-held job ever) because I was told, among other lies, that they were excellent at working with their employees. Turns out they fired their attendance lady shortly after I came on and automated the process. They told us on Dec. 1st or so that they were now counting absences, and I was called into the office and talked to for a total of six points from three absences in November. Not a huge deal because the supervisors told me I had one of the lowest points of anyone with the company…cut to today’s…

A career isn’t a ladder. It’s a refinement process.

If it's not working out for you, it's a good indication that it's them, not you. They undervalue you and the legitimate qualities you bring to the table. Their loss. All you can do is refine out the impurities. Be authentically you, and by whatever means, your career will naturally reach a state of equilibrium where you are valued for who you are. All you can do is be authentic.

LinkedIn: what do you really feel/think about it? Is this a healthy platform where work-related issues can be discussed in a fair and balanced manner…

…or simply a cesspool of endless corporate circle-jerking and echo-chamber for work-slaves and workaholic attention-whores? What I detest about it is its inability to allow people to offer a critical appraisal, not even to put into question fully debunked theories about work – the only rational discussions about unfair remuneration, inflation, work-place well-being and quiet-quitting have been analysed on this sub r/antiwork, but never on LinkedIn. So, you views, please…?

How was I never fired? Or even noticed?

I worked at Walgreens for over a year and a half. During this time, I would give the employee discount (15 – 25 percent off) on all Plan B, period products, and pregnancy tests. Sometimes if people’s cards were declined I would give the discount to help them out, because I knew some of these customers were in poor financial situations. This certainly cost the company thousands of dollars, but somehow they never noticed or talked to me or anything. How in the world did I get away with this? Idk how this works legally or if walgreens could see this and sue me or something so… Everything said in this post is completely hypothetical and is in no ways an admission to these acts. This is a parody.

Teams is amazing, especially when you can turn off the camera and mic….

First day in yet another pointless corporate job sitting in a Teams meeting with 20 other new starters. Luckily I can turn off my camera and mic. So instead of listening to the manager ramble on about punctuality, service availability, customer service and what not, I can watch cute dog videos on YouTube. I also love watching Gizmo the Grey African Parrot. Such a clever and funny bird….
